- Internal carotid artery (ICA) injury is a significant concern during endoscopic sinus and skull base surgeries, often triggered by reliance on the vidian canal as a landmark.
- A study using CT scans of 105 patients aimed to better locate the ICA by investigating the anatomical relationship between the palatovaginal canal (PVC) and the ICA's laceral genu.
- Results showed that in 97.1% of cases, the laceral genu was lateral to the PVC, suggesting that the PVC corridor is a safer navigation route during surgeries, reducing the risk of ICA injury.

Sialolithiasis in sub-mandibular gland is a common condition. Sub-mandibular fistula as a sequel of sub-mandibular sialolithiasis is a rare entity. We report a case of an unusually large sub-mandibular gland calculus causing a cutaneous fistula.
