Introduction: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, though it may be prevented by increasing physical activity (PA). When behaviour change techniques (BCTs) are bundled together, they increase PA, though which individual BCTs increase PA (and the behavioural mechanism of action (MoA) responsible for said increase) have not been studied. The aim of this study is to conduct a randomised factorial experiment to determine which of four BCTs significantly engage the proposed MoA-self-efficacy for PA-in adults at risk for CVD.

Background: The higher cost of balanced fluids has historically contributed to preferential normal saline (NS) use. Recent clinical trials demonstrated that balanced fluids reduced the incidence of major adverse kidney events among hospitalized patients and also reduced mortality among critically ill patients. This study sought to conduct an economic evaluation of a recently published quality improvement (QI) intervention to increase preferential balanced fluid prescribing, which significantly increased the relative proportion of balanced fluid orders.

Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are a highly tunable family of materials with properties suitable for a wide variety of applications. The efficacy of affinity-based treatments for cancer and other diseases is often limited by poor distribution throughout the targeted tissue. Although lower-affinity antibodies will penetrate more uniformly, these often reach lower concentrations because of their rapid clearance from the tissue. To increase retention and improve distribution, we created low-affinity photocrosslinkable affibodies that can diffuse into dense tumor matrices with limited tumor barrier formation and then be photocrosslinked in place to cell receptors to increase retention.

The US Food and Drug Administration recognizes the unmet medical need for antibacterial drugs to treat serious bacterial diseases caused by resistant pathogens for which effective therapies are limited or lacking. The agency also recognizes that designing and conducting clinical trials to assess the safety and efficacy of drugs to treat resistant infections is challenging, especially for drugs only active against a single or a few bacterial species, and that a more flexible development program might be appropriate. We use synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements to monitor the solvothermal crystallization mechanism of the aperiodic metal-organic framework TRUMOF-1. Following an initial incubation period, TRUMOF-1 forms as a metastable intermediate that subsequently transforms into an ordered product with triclinic crystal symmetry. We determine the structure of this ordered phase, which we call msw-TRUMOF-1, and show that it is related to TRUMOF-1 through topotactic reorganization of linker occupancies.

Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) are emerging as a promising alternative technology to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their significantly reduced dependency on critical minerals. KIBs may also present an opportunity for superior fast-charging compared to LIBs, with significantly faster K-ion electrolyte transport properties already demonstrated. In the absence of a viable K-ion electrolyte, a full-cell KIB rate model in commercial cell formats is required to determine the fast-charging potential for KIBs.
