Background And Aim: Social predictors affect severity of sarcoidosis, with Black patients, older individuals, those with lower income, and those without insurance having greater severity. This study aimed to explore potential disparities affecting access to care in sarcoidosis patients with a primary focus on metrics such as area deprivation index (ADI) and its association with adherence to the proposed regimen.
Methods: A retrospective chart review study of all patients seen in pulmonary clinics at a large urban tertiary care center over 2 years with sarcoidosis patients identified with International Classification of Diseases diagnosis code D86.
Introduction: We examined autoimmunity markers (AIM) and autonomic dysfunction in patients with chronic neurogastroenterological symptoms and their relationship to joint hypermobility/hypermobility spectrum disorder (JH/HSD).
Methods: AIM positivity was defined as a diagnosis of known autoimmune/autoinflammatory disorder with at least 1 positive seromarker of autoimmunity or at least 2 positive seromarkers by themselves. Three cohorts were studied: (i) retrospective (n = 300), (ii) prospective validation cohort (n = 133), and (iii) treatment cohort (n = 40), administered open-label intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG).
Background: Individuals with intellectual disabilities (IDs) are at risk of diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), which can lead to foot ulcers and lower-extremity amputations. However, cognitive differences and communication barriers may impede some methods for screening and prevention of DPN. Wearable and mobile technologies-such as smartphone apps and pressure-sensitive insoles-could help to offset these barriers, yet little is known about the effectiveness of these technologies among individuals with ID.

Accessing hepatitis C treatment is challenging because of loss to follow-up in the postpartum period, attributable to social and financial barriers to care. Telemedicine has been explored as a means of increasing routine postpartum care, but the potential impact on retention in and completion of care for postpartum hepatitis C has not been assessed.

This study aimed to assess if a semi-supervised exercise training (ET) program would be more effective at improving aerobic fitness (VO), exercise tolerance, and symptoms in individuals with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) compared to the standard of care (SOC).
Methods: Subjects were randomized to either the ET or SOC groups (n 26 vs.
Nivolumab and ipilimumab are immunotherapy agents used in combination to treat metastatic melanoma and have proven to be efficacious. However, they have been linked to the development of immune-mediated inflammatory processes in various organ systems and tissues, including immune-mediated pneumonitis (IMP). This case report describes a 50-year-old female patient with metastatic melanoma who was treated with nivolumab and ipilimumab therapy and developed IMP as a complication.

This study identified differences in current self-reported PA levels and perceived resources among US university women from metropolitan, micropolitan, and rural areas. Women were ages 18-24 y, full-time students who attended in-person university classes before COVID-19.

We report a case of a 26-year-old male hospitalized for CAR T-cell therapy with Axicabtagene Ciloleucel for treatment of relapsed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, who developed progressive symptoms of immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome. Fundoscopic examination suggested the presence of blurred optic disc margins.

Effective revascularization is key to optimizing limb salvage for patients with chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI). We hypothesized that CLTI patients requiring TMA will have better healing and functional outcomes with open bypass than with endovascular revascularization.

These mHealth apps enable consumers to monitor their health-related problems, store, manage, and share health records, medical conditions, treatment, and medication. With the increase of mHealth apps accessibility and usability, it is crucial to create, receive, maintain or transmit protected health information (PHI) on behalf of a covered entity or another business associate.

Disease-defining signs and symptoms can vary widely and involve multiple organ systems including the nervous system. Involvement of the nervous system, known as neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) can present as manifestations consistent with central nervous system or peripheral nervous system pathologies, with the former including presentations of psychiatric illnesses.

Purpose: There are currently limited objective criteria to help assist physicians in determining whether an individual patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is likely to do better with induction with either standard 7 + 3 chemotherapy or targeted therapy with venetoclax plus azacitidine. The study goal was to address this need by developing exploratory clinical decision support methods.
Patients And Methods: Univariable and multivariable analysis as well as comparison of a range of machine learning (ML) predictors were performed using cohorts of 120 newly diagnosed 7 + 3-treated AML patients compared with 101 venetoclax plus azacitidine-treated patients.

Research examining physiological responses to trauma cues in PTSD has identified a subset of "nonresponders" showing suppressed physiological reactivity. The defense cascade model posits that individuals respond to stressors by progressing through a series of defensive reactions, with nonresponders having advanced to a shutdown response. It remains unclear whether dissociation is at the end of a continuum of passive behavior, indicating full shutdown, or if it comprises a distinct response.

Cellulitis and skin abscesses are among the most common skin and soft tissue infections. Cellulitis typically involves the deeper dermis of subcutaneous fat and tends to have a more indolent course with the development of localized symptoms over a few days.

Our institution offers pre- and perioperative, anesthesiologist-delivered ultrasound-guided suprainguinal fascia iliaca catheters (FICs) to patients with hip fracture. We aimed to document the safety profile of this technique and establish whether there are any significant clinical benefits in outcomes measured by the UK National Hip Fracture Database.

Criticisms of the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) include limited testing of only aerobic and muscular endurance activity domains; yet, it is unclear what levels of aerobic and muscle strengthening activity may help predict performance in aspects of the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). This study explored relationships between baseline self-reported aerobic and muscle strengthening activities and APFT- and ACFT-related performance.

This is the case of a 51-year-old African American male who presented with recurrent episodes of auditory and visual hallucinations, confusion, seizures that did not respond to antiepileptics, and recent-onset primary polydipsia. In the emergency department, he did not have meningeal signs, focal neurologic deficits, or a fever.
