Given the clinical success of cytokine blockade in managing diverse inflammatory human conditions, this approach could be exploited for numerous refractory or uncontrolled inflammatory conditions by identifying novel targets for functional blockade. Interleukin (IL)-18, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is relatively underestimated as a therapeutic target, despite accumulated evidence indicating the unique roles of IL-18 in acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, such as macrophage activation syndrome. Herein, we designed a new form of IL-18 blockade, i.

Background: Ultrasonic neuromodulation (UNMOD) provides a non-invasive brain stimulation. However, the high-resolution region-specificity of UNMOD with a single element transducer combined with a mechanical positioning system could have limits due to the intrinsic positioning error from mechanical systems.

Objective/hypothesis: A phased array system could lead to highly selective neuromodulation with electronic control.

The dual-vector system-II (DVS-II), which allows efficient display of Fab antibodies on phage, has been reported previously, but its practical applicability in a phage-displayed antibody library has not been verified. To resolve this issue, we created two small combinatorial human Fab antibody libraries using the DVS-II, and isolation of target-specific antibodies was attempted. Biopanning of one antibody library, termed DVFAB-1L library, which has a 1.

Whereas the mammalian fertilization environment consists of possible products of the mutual interaction between oviductal and follicular fluids in addition to both fluid components, little is known regarding the interaction. In the present study, we have demonstrated that a mutual interaction occurs, resulting in the biochemical changes of follicular fluid components. Gelatin zymographic analyses of bovine follicular fluid (bFF) showed consistently a distinct, gelatinolytic activity having a molecular weight of 110 kDa (GA110) in addition to other gelatinases, whereas bovine oviductal fluid (bOF) showed a lack of GA110.
