We developed a new sodium magnetic resonance fingerprinting (Na MRF) method for the simultaneous mapping of and sodium density with built-in (radiofrequency transmission inhomogeneities) and corrections (frequency offsets). We based our Na MRF implementation on a 3D FLORET sequence with 23 radiofrequency pulses. To capture the complex spin dynamics of the Na nucleus, the fingerprint dictionary was simulated using the irreducible spherical tensor operators formalism.

Alterations in pH are a hallmark in several pathologies including cancer, ischemia, and inflammation. Non-invasive magnetic resonance methods to measure pH offer a new approach for early diagnosis of diseases characterized by acid-base imbalances. The hyperpolarization with parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) enhances inherently low signals in magnetic resonance experiments by several orders of magnitude and offers a suitable platform to obtain biocompatible markers in less than one minute.

In this work, we introduce a super-resolution method that generates a high-resolution (HR) sodium ( Na) image from simultaneously acquired low-resolution (LR) Na density-weighted MRI and HR proton density, T , and T maps from proton ( H) MR fingerprinting in the brain at 7 T. The core of our method is a partial least squares regression between the HR ( H) images and the LR ( Na) image. An iterative loop and deconvolution with the point spread function of each acquired image were included in the algorithm to generate a final HR Na image without losing features from the LR Na image.

Background: Maximizing patient and allograft survival after liver transplant (LT) is important from both a patient care and organ utilization perspective. Although individual studies have addressed the effects of short-term post-LT complications on a limited scale, there has not been a systematic review of the literature formally assessing the potential effects of early complications on long-term outcomes.

Objectives: This study evaluated the effect of milk supplemented with Lactobacillus rhamnosus SP1 on the occurrence of caries and the salivary concentration of human β-defensin-3 (hβD-3) in preschool children with high caries risk.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 42 children was randomly assigned to two groups; children in the intervention group were given 150 mL of milk supplemented with 10 CFU/mL of Lactobacillus rhamnosus SP1, while children in the control group were given standard milk, for 10 months. The occurrence of dental caries was assessed using the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS), and the concentration of hβD-3 was measured in unstimulated saliva using an ELISA test at baseline and after the intervention.
