Purpose And Methods: This prospective study aims to diagnose the etiology of non-focalized fever lasting between 5 and 28 days in the islands of La Palma and El Hierro (Canary Islands, Spain) during 2021, using serology and PCR.
Results: The etiological profile described in this study aligns with that of fever of intermediate duration (FID), with zoonoses being the primary cause. Murine typhus (MT) is identified as the leading cause, followed by Q fever (QF).
Purpose Of Review: Postextubation respiratory support treatment approaches, indications, and subgroups of patients with different responses to those therapies are rapidly changing. Planning optimal therapy in terms of choosing devices, timing of application and selecting settings with the goal of minimizing extubation failure is becoming a challenge. This review aims to analyze all the available evidence from a clinical point of view, trying to facilitate decision making at the bedside.

We aimed to determine whether noninvasive ventilation (NIV) with active humidification is superior to high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in preventing reintubation in obese patients at intermediate risk.
Methods: Randomized controlled trial in two intensive care units in Spain (June 2020‒June 2021).
Introduction: First-line oxygenation strategy in patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure consists in standard oxygen or high-flow nasal oxygen therapy. Clinical practice guidelines suggest the use of high-flow nasal oxygen rather than standard oxygen. However, findings remain contradictory with a low level of certainty.

Methods: DM patients from two health centers were included.
Extubation is a crucial step in the weaning process of critically ill mechanically ventilated patients. Some patients may develop postextubation respiratory failure that may lead to the need for re-intubation, which is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. This review comprehensively explores postextubation respiratory support strategies, focusing on the efficacy of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy and noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in reducing re-intubation rates among various patient populations.

Materials And Methods: A literature search was conducted in four databases. Clinical studies investigating the effect of HCQ/CQ in patients with OLP were included.
Allergic conjunctivitis (AC) is the most common form of allergic eye disease and an increasingly prevalent condition. Topical eye drop treatments are the usual approach for managing AC, although their impact on the ocular surface is not frequently investigated. The aim of this study was to perform a comparative physicochemical characterization, and in vitro biological evaluations in primary conjunctival and corneal epithelial cells of the new multidose preservative-free bilastine 0.

Background: Hypersensitivity reactions to toothpastes are rare. The objective of this study was to present the authors' clinical cases in the past 10 years and perform a scoping review of gingival hypersensitivity responses to toothpastes.
Types Of Studies Reviewed: The authors reviewed records of documented gingival hypersensitivity reactions to dentifrices at the Postgraduate Clinic of Oral Medicine, Complutense University, Madrid, Spain, from January 2013 through December 2022.
Objectives: To evaluate whether the severity of xerostomia in older polymedicated patients impacts oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).
Background: Medication-associated xerostomia is common in older people. Xerostomia may impair OHRQoL.
Purpose: Evaluate the safety profile of expanded allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (eASC) for the treatment of severe community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP).
Materials And Methods: Randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 1b/2a trial. Patients with severe CABP were enrolled to receive intravenous infusions of Cx611 or placebo.
This study is an interdisciplinary research into Uruguayan ayahuasca users belonging to one neo-shamanic and one Santo Daime group. The study involved the chemical analysis of ayahuasca samples, an ethnographic description of the two traditions and rituals, and the application of psychometric scales to measure personality differences, and the acute psychological effects during an ayahuasca ritual. Personality measurements showed lower scores for Santo Daime in Neuroticism-Anxiety, Dependence, Low Self-Esteem, Anger and Restlessness.

It is characterized by mild to severe normocytic anemia, jaundice, and splenomegaly owing to the hemolytic component. This often leads to liver iron overload and gallstones.

Thus, the study of the reactivity of this type of motif is particularly useful for the generation of new analogs suitable for medicinal chemistry goals. In this article, we analyzed the oxidation pattern of ibogaine and voacangine using dioxygen, peroxo compounds, and iodine as oxidizing agents.

Patients And Methods: Multi-center, international, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, phase III study of adult patients with seasonal or perennial AC.
In diabetes, chronic hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, inflammation and oxidative stress contribute to the progression of macro/microvascular complications. Recently, benefits of the use of flavonoids in these conditions have been established. This study investigates, in two different mouse models of diabetes, the vasculoprotective effects of the synthetic flavonoid hidrosmin on endothelial dysfunction and atherogenesis.
