Background: Oral propranolol accelerates the involution of infantile haemangiomas (IHs). However, it is not clear whether IHs treated with oral propranolol are associated with fewer sequelae than when left untreated.

Objectives: To quantify and describe sequelae associated with IHs treated with oral propranolol, and to explore whether treated IHs are associated with fewer sequelae than untreated IHs.

Mutations in CYP4F22 cause autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI). However, less than 10% of all ARCI patients carry a mutation in CYP4F22. In order to identify the molecular basis of ARCI among our patients (a cohort of ninety-two Spanish individuals) we performed a mutational analysis using direct Sanger sequencing in combination with a multigene targeted NGS panel.

Linear IgA bullous dermatosis is an acquired subepidermal immunoglobulin-mediated vesiculobullous disease. In this retrospective, observational, descriptive study, we describe the clinical characteristics, treatments, and outcomes of 17 patients with linear IgA bullous dermatosis. Two children had been vaccinated 2 weeks before the onset of symptoms, 2 had had bronco-obstructive respiratory symptoms, and 1 had received intravenous antibiotic therapy.

Background And Objectives: There is no consensus on optimal treatment duration for propranolol in infantile hemangioma (IH). We evaluated the efficacy and safety of oral propranolol solution administered for a minimum of 6 months up to a maximum of 12 months of age in high-risk IH.

Methods: This single-arm, open-label, phase 3 study was conducted in patients aged 35 to 150 days with high-risk IH in 10 hospitals between 2015 and 2017.

Demodex mites are commensal organisms rarely found in healthy children. Human demodicosis can be classified as a primary or a secondary form. The secondary form in children usually affects severely immunodepressed children.

Background: Most arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are localized and occur sporadically. However, they also can be multifocal in autosomal-dominant disorders, such as hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and capillary malformation (CM)-AVM. Previously, we identified mutations in 50% of patients with CM-AVM.

Introduction And Objective: In recent decades, an association has been reported between epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DC). DC is typically in an advanced phase when detected, leading to a poorer prognosis. Our objective was to determine the prevalence of DC in patients with EB seen in Hospital San Joan de Déu in Barcelona, Spain, between May 1986 and April 2015.

Background: Nail-patella syndrome (NPS) is an inherited disease produced by mutations in the LMX1B gene. It is characterized by fingernail dysplasia, hypoplastic or absent patella, dysplasia of the elbows and iliac horns on X-ray. It is useful to know this syndrome since some patients develop nephropathy and eye abnormalities.

Cutaneous mucinosis in infancy is rare. We report an infant with multiple congenital papules distributed over the trunk, neck, and extremities. These papules were mainly dispersed, but they also coalesced into plaques.

Background: There is scarce information on the use of ciclopirox olamine in children.

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ciclopirox olamine cream 1% for the treatment of dermatomycosis in pediatric patients.

Methods: A multicenter, non-randomized, open-label, phase iii study was conducted on patients aged 3 months to 9 years diagnosed with dermatomycosis confirmed by direct microscopy and culture, and treated with ciclopirox olamine cream 1% for 28 days.

We report the fifth case of epidermal choristoma of the oral cavity in a Caucasian newborn with a congenital melanotic macule on the dorsum of the tongue. Epidermal choristoma is an exceedingly rare and benign condition probably caused by a developmental abnormality. It is identified according to the presence of normal skin in an abnormal location.

Two patients are reported in whom early-onset, distal papules with a histopathological diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma were the first manifestation of Gorlin syndrome (GS). These lesions showed no progression and remained stable through follow-up. Two different PTCH1 gene mutations were detected in the two patients, and thus a phenotype-genotype correlation of this manifestation of GS was not possible.

Three overlapping conditions, namely Rothmund-Thomson (RTS), Baller-Gerold (BGS) and RAPADILINO syndromes, have been attributed to RECQL4 mutations. Differential diagnoses depend on the clinical presentation, but the numbers of known genes remain low, leading to the widespread prescription of RECQL4 sequencing. The aim of our study was therefore to determine the best clinical indicators for the presence of RECQL4 mutations in a series of 39 patients referred for RECQL4 molecular analysis and belonging to the RTS (27 cases) and BGS (12 cases) spectrum.
