Automatic milking systems (AMSs) give cows relative freedom to choose the time and frequency of milking throughout the day. Feeding stations also may improve the management of farms. Combining milking robots and feeding stations (FS) may improve milking efficiency and milk yield.

This study investigated blind adults' experiences of adapting to digital technologies. The authors' focus was on how they have been experiencing changes implied by digital transformation, which provided the starting point for assessing their prospects and/or limitations for self-development through new technologies in the future. The second point concerned designing technologies for blind adults by adding questions about their specific needs and expectations for digital device designers.

Target is a broad term that can be applied to a range of biological entities such as proteins, genes, and ribonucleic acids (RNAs). Although there are numerous databases available for mining biological entities, publicly available searchable, downloadable databases to aid in target selection for a specific disease or indication (e.

Acceptance of the biotic ligand model (BLM) to derive aquatic life criteria, for metals in general and copper (Cu) in particular, is growing among regulatory agencies worldwide. Thus, it is important to ensure that water quality data are used appropriately and consistently in deriving such criteria. Here we present a suggested BLM implementation framework (hereafter referred to as "the Framework") to help guide the decision-making process when designing sampling and analysis programs for use of the BLM to derive water quality criteria applied on a site-specific basis.

With colorant-channel approaches, a key challenge for matrix-based halftoning is the co-optimization of the matrices used for individual colorants, which becomes increasingly complex and over-constrained as the number of colorants increases. Both choices of screen angles (in clustered-dot cases) or structures, and control over how individual matrices relate to each other and result in over-versus side-by-side printing of the colorants, impose challenging restrictions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFish embryos were used to evaluate the interaction among common environmental and chemical stressors found in urban coastal environments, namely hypoxia, aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonists, and estrogenic compounds. At the molecular level, the systems responding to these stressors share common response factors, and evidence exists for cross-talk between them. Biomarkers of exposure to these stressors, cytochrome P4501a (Cyp1a), estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), brain cytochrome P450 aromatase (Cyp19a2 or AromB), and hypoxia inducible factor 1 alpha (Hif-1α) mRNA expression were examined using qRT-PCR simultaneously in embryos of two well studied species, the Atlantic killifish, Fundulus heteroclitus, and the zebrafish Danio rerio.
