This study aimed to evaluate the effects of fiberglass posts on fracture behavior in endodontically treated teeth (ETT) restored with composite veneers. Adult patients who had endodontically treated anterior teeth restored with composite veneers, with or without fiberglass posts, were divided into the case (with fractured teeth) and control (without fractured teeth) groups. All fracture patterns were sorted by a 6-point scoring system: 0, no fracture; 1, veneer buccal fracture; 2, incisal edge fracture; 3, coronal middle-third fracture; 4, coronal cervical fracture; 5, coronal and root fracture; and 6, root fracture.

Background: There are no clinical parameters that predict response to intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC), which is a first-line treatment for primary and recurrent unilateral retinoblastoma. We evaluated the utility of ophthalmic ultrasound with color Doppler imaging to predict retinoblastoma response to IAC treatment.

Methods: The medical records of 14 retinoblastoma patients (20 eyes) treated with IAC were reviewed retrospectively.

Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are increasingly being used due to their improved efficacy/safety ratio and lower clinical and economic burden when compared to vitamin K antagonists. However, bleeding is still the most frequent complication associated with DOACs, and although rare, bleeding episodes can be life-threatening or critical. The impact of DOAC anticoagulation activity during a bleeding event must be evaluated according to patient clinical assessment, dosage and time from last intake, the presence of comorbidities (especially kidney and liver dysfunction), and, whenever possible, coagulation tests.

Oral bioavailability of nebivolol (NEB), a highly-selective β1-adrenergic receptor antagonist specially used in hypertension treatment, is limited by its low aqueous solubility. In this work we investigated the possibility of developing a new effective oral formulation of NEB by exploiting a combined strategy based on NEB complexation with hydroxypropyl-βCyclodextrin (HPβCD) and complex incorporation into solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). Solubility studies enabled to choose Imwitor 491 and 988 as solid lipids for SLN preparation.

Transitional care interventions, which ensure coordination and continuity of care as patients move between different levels of healthcare, have been shown to reduce unnecessary healthcare utilization and improve patient outcomes. While much attention has been given to transitional care in heart failure, this review aims to map the interventions implemented for patients following an acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

We report silicon carbide (SiC) based epoxidation catalysts constituted of a silicon carbide core and a silica/titania (SiO/TiO) shell. The catalysts were obtained surface modification of SiC microparticles and were used as heterogeneous catalysts for the epoxidation of cyclohexene using -butyl hydroperoxide or cumyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant. Conversions up to 83% and selectivities of more than 90% were obtained.

Association of SO-Generating Pads before Packaging and during Cold Storage to Extend the Conservation of 'Italia' Table Grapes.

The SO-generating pads contain different concentrations of sodium metabisulfite, which absorbs water from the grapes' transpiration, releasing SO gas, and there are slow-(SlowSO) and dual (DualSO)-releasing pads (fast release in the first 48 h and slow for up to 60 days). The ultra-fast SO-generating pad (FieldSO) releases the SO quickly for up to 6 h, and it was designed to be used soon after the harvest and until the grapes' packaging. The goal was to study the effect of FieldSO associated with SlowSO and DualSO pads on gray mold incidence and physicochemical and appearance characteristics of 'Italia' table grapes.
