In-Person and Video-Based Education: Do They Affect Pressure Injury Knowledge in Nursing?

Objective: To determine how training on the nursing care of pressure injuries (PIs) affects knowledge levels and satisfaction.

Methods: This study was semiexperimental, conducted in the form of a pretest and posttest in one group of 105 nurses working in a training and research hospital. The training took place in person and via video.

Comparative analysis of oral iron therapy regimens in premenopausal women with iron deficiency anemia.

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is prevalent among women of reproductive age. Treatment aims to replenish iron stores and normalize hemoglobin levels, with oral iron therapy being the preferred route in most cases. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and side effects of three common oral treatment regimens in premenopausal women with IDA.

Three-Year Assault Cases Performed on the Emergency Trauma Center.

Objective: This study aims to compare the results of cases with a history of assault presented to our emergency department over a period of three years with literature data and to share our experiences with colleagues.

Methods: Demographic characteristics, trauma findings, clinical conditions, surgical interventions, mortality, and outcomes of patients with a history of assault to the emergency department between 2020 and 2022 were retrospectively examined. The results were analyzed using the Number Cruncher Statistical System 2007 Statistical Software package program (Utah, USA).

Extremely elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rates: Associations with patients' diagnoses and clinical characteristics.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to assess the etiological distribution of patients with an erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) over 100 mm/hour and to evaluate differences in demographic, comorbidity, laboratory characteristics, and clinical outcomes.

Methods: This retrospective observational clinical study included patients aged 18 years and older who were admitted to the internal medicine inpatient clinic between May 1, 2015 and June 1, 2021 and had ESR values above 100 mm/h. Demographic data, comorbidities, laboratory parameters, imaging studies, histopathological findings, microbiological and serological data, along with in-hospital and post-discharge mortality, were collected from the hospital's electronic database.

Potassium/sodium cation carriers robustly up-regulate CD20 antigen by targeting MYC, and synergize with anti-CD20 immunotherapies to eliminate malignant B cells.

Our investigation uncovers that nanomolar concentrations of salinomycin, monensin, nigericin, and narasin (a group of potassium/sodium cation carriers) robustly enhance surface expression of CD20 antigen in B-cell-derived tumor cells, including primary malignant cells of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Experiments in vitro, ex vivo, and animal model reveal a novel approach of combining salinomycin or monensin with therapeutic anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies or anti-CD20 CAR-T cells, significantly improving non- Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) therapy. The results of RNA-seq, genetic editing, and chemical inhibition delineate the molecular mechanism of CD20 upregulation, at least partially, to the downregulation of MYC, the transcriptional repressor of the MS4A1 gene encoding CD20.

Levels of Anxiety, Depression, Self-Esteem, and Guilt in Women with High-Risk Pregnancies.

Pregnancy is an inherently delicate process characterized by physiological and psychological changes, even in the absence of any health complications. This study compares the levels of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and guilt in women diagnosed with high-risk pregnancies to those in a control group consisting of women with healthy pregnancies. A total of 172 women participated in the study, 108 of whom had high-risk pregnancies, and 64 had healthy pregnancies.

Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors of Research Assistants and Final-Year Students in the Medical Faculty.

This study aimed to identify the health-related behaviors and associated factors among research assistants and final-year students at a Faculty of Medicine. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 712 assistant physicians and final-year medical students participated. Data collection involved using a survey form to inquire about participants' sociodemographic characteristics and the "Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II (HPLP II).

This Letter reports a search for charge-parity (CP) symmetry violating nonstandard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos with matter using the NOvA Experiment, and examines their effects on the determination of the standard oscillation parameters. Data from ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{e}(ν[over ¯]_{e}) oscillation channels are used to measure the effect of the NSI parameters ϵ_{eμ} and ϵ_{eτ}. With 90% CL the magnitudes of the NSI couplings are constrained to be |ϵ_{eμ}|≲0.

Retrospective analysis of hemophilia B in Turkey: identifying main characteristics and treatment options.

Background: Hemophilia B (HB), an X-linked recessive inherited bleeding disorder, exhibits a high prevalence among males.

Objectives: To present the first national cohort of persons with HB to define the demographics, clinical characteristics, and treatment patterns in Turkey.

Methods: This multicenter, retrospective study included 433 alive persons with HB registered in 35 centers between 1961 and 2018.

TRESK channel activation ameliorates migraine-like pain via modulation of CGRP release from the trigeminovascular system and meningeal mast cells in experimental migraine models.

Aims: Accumulating evidence indicates the involvement of TRESK potassium channels in migraine, however, effects of TRESK activation on migraine-related mechanisms remain unclear. We explored effects of TRESK channel modulation on migraine-related behavioral and molecular markers in in-vivo and ex-vivo rat models of migraine.

Main Methods: The selective TRESK activator cloxyquin at different doses, the TRESK inhibitor A2764, and the migraine drug sumatriptan were tested alone or in different combinations in nitroglycerin (NTG)-induced in-vivo model, and in ex-vivo meningeal, trigeminal ganglion and brainstem preparations in which CGRP release was induced by capsaicin.

The impact of Ramadan fasting on oxidative stress levels in the second trimester of pregnancy.

Background: The primary objective of this study was to assess the effect of fasting during Ramadan on maternal oxidative stress levels and foetal development; pregnant women with uncomplicated, singleton pregnancies in the second trimester.

Methods: During the month of Ramadan, 23 March 2023 to 20 April 2023, 50 fasting and 50 non-fasting healthy pregnant women were enrolled in this prospective study. The fasting hours were about 14 h per day in that season.

Objective: To examine the association between cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) and corpus callosum (CC) length and width measurements in mid-trimester sonographic screening in normal fetuses.

Methods: This prospective cohort study examined 152 pregnant women who underwent mid-trimester sonographic fetal anomaly screening. CSP and CC lengths and their anterior, middle, and posterior width measurements were examined sonographically.

A rare cause of immune dysregulation, prolidase deficiency: a case report and review of the literature.

We report a pediatric patient with prolidase deficiency, caused by a mutation in the PEPD gene, which encodes the enzyme prolidase D, with a lupus-like clinic and marked dysmorphic features along with pulmonary, neurological, skeletal, and immune system involvement. In addition to being the first known case in the literature where Friedrich's ataxia and prolidase deficiency were observed together, we aimed to highlight that this diagnosis should be considered in patients with autoimmunity and additional systemic findings such as treatment-resistant skin lesions, intellectual disability, and pulmonary manifestations. Furthermore, we sought to compare this case with others documented in the literature.
