Background And Purpose: Patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED patients) are often ineligible for online magnetic resonance-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT), most likely due to the absence of established guidelines. Existing radiotherapy (RT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidelines offer an opportunity to construct MRgRT protocols, promoting equitable access. Our objective was to present such a workflow, share multi-institutional experiences treating CIED patients with MRgRT on a 1.

Background: Adhesive capsulitis (AC) is a common cause of shoulder disability. Interventional procedures are used along with many other treatment methods. There are insufficient studies directly comparing the superiority of suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) and intra-articular shoulder injection (IAI) techniques, which are frequently used interventional methods in treatment.

The prognosis for intracerebral hematoma (ICH) following the rupture of a middle cerebral artery bifurcation (Mbif) aneurysm is poor. We compared patients with isolated diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) (without ICH) following Mbif aneurysm rupture to those with both SAH and ICH to evaluate clinical and morphological risk factors for ICH. A retrospective study was conducted on 112 patients with ruptured Mbif aneurysms treated between July 2016 and December 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • New surgical techniques known as transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery have been developed to access the orbit and intracranial cavity, particularly via the superior eyelid route.
  • This study involved performing transorbital endoscopic dissections on 4 cadavers to explore the feasibility of this approach in identifying arterial structures.
  • Results showed that the M1 and M2 segments of the middle cerebral artery could be accessed using a 0-degree endoscope, suggesting this method could offer a new surgical alternative for certain cranial conditions.

: The increase in fungal infections, both systemic and invasive, is a major source of morbidity and mortality, particularly among immunocompromised people such as cancer patients and organ transplant recipients. Because of their strong therapeutic activity and excellent safety profiles, azole antifungals are currently the most extensively used systemic antifungal drugs. Antibacterial properties of various topical antifungals, such as oxiconazole, which features oxime ether functionality, were discovered, indicating an exciting prospect in antimicrobial chemotherapy.

Objective: The impacts of earthquakes on the mental health of individuals have been well-documented. Additionally, individuals frequently report experiencing dizziness akin to seasickness or carsickness. This phenomenon, termed "post-earthquake dizziness syndrome" (PEDS), has garnered increasing attention due to its unclear etiology.

This study examined the effect of 6-week training to improve horizontal deceleration ability on sprint acceleration and countermovement jump (CMJ) neuromuscular performance (NMP) parameters. Twenty male soccer players were divided into the training (TRA), and the control (CON) group. Pre-and post-training players performed an acceleration-deceleration ability test (ADA) and a jump on a vertical axis dual force plate.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, predominantly affecting older individuals. Despite the increasing use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) like nivolumab in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the efficacy and safety in elderly patients, particularly those aged 65 and above, remain underexplored due to their underrepresentation in clinical trials. This retrospective study analyzed data from 60 elderly patients (≥65 years) with metastatic NSCLC who received nivolumab as second-line or later therapy between January 2020 and May 2023.

Background: Tisotumab vedotin (TV) holds promise for treating recurrence or metastatic cervical cancer (r/mCC), with recent FDA approval for second-line use in recurrent or metastatic cases. Our research aims to evaluate TV's efficacy and safety in these patients, focusing on overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) outcomes.

Methods: We searched five electronic databases in February 2024, retrieved articles, screened them based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and assessed their quality.

The antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticarcinogenic, wound healing activities and phenolic substance profile of aqueous extracts prepared using branch, leaf, flower parts and above-ground parts of were determined in the study. The analyses indicate that the total phenolic substance contents and total antioxidant status are higher in the mix, flower, and leaf extracts. The extracts reduced cell viability in HGF cells more than in A549 cells.

Background: Biliary tract cancer (BTC) is a malignancy characterized by a low 5-year survival rate (<20 %). Clinical aspects such as tumor resectability, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score (ECOG-PS), and molecular profiling are used to determine the treatment for these patients. Diagnosis and treatment are typically established by a multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the ECG characteristics of 103 acromegaly patients to assess the risk of cardiovascular complications and life expectancy, highlighting the significance of the Tp-e interval and its ratios as indicators of ventricular arrhythmia risk.
  • - Results show that patients with both baseline and current ECGs experienced a decrease in heart rate, QRS duration, and several arrhythmia parameters, which were similarly affected regardless of whether the patients were in active or remission stages of the disease.
  • - The conclusion emphasizes that treatment leads to improved ventricular arrhythmia parameters in acromegaly patients, which correlates with a significant reduction in IGF-1 levels, even in those with ongoing active disease.

Background: Stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR) is a novel treatment approach for refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). The risk of treatment-induced toxicity and geographic miss can be reduced with online MRI-guidance on an MR-linac. However, most VT patients carry cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED), which compromise MR images.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed radiological and anatomical measurements in 23 patients aged 18-45 with medial osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) who had no trauma history, comparing them to a control group of 27 individuals.
  • Significant findings included a correlation between medial OLT and decreased talar declination angle (P<0.001) and Meary-Tomeno's angle (P=0.003), suggesting these angles may contribute to OLT development.
  • The research concludes that lower positions of the talus in relation to the ground and first metatarsus might be a key factor in the formation of medial OLT in non-traumatic patients.

Introduction: Glyburide is a drug for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and has a potential effect on Alzheimer's disease. It is also a BCS Class 2 drug with low solubility and low permeability. Developing a nanosuspension formulation and increasing the solubility and dissolution rate of glyburide is required to overcome this challenge.

Human urine, a highly saline solution rich in plant-available nutrients, leaves behind significant organic matter after nutrient recovery, necessitating additional treatment for environmental protection. While nutrient recovery from human urine is well-documented in the literature, research on the safe handling of the residual liquid phase is notably lacking. This study investigates nutrient recovery from source-separated human urine using clinoptilolite for the ion exchange/adsorption process and evaluates the safe management of the residual liquid through anaerobic granular sludge and a second-stage of sorption.
