Phthalates or phthalate esters (PAEs) have become a serious concern due to their toxicity and risks of migration from contact materials to food matrices and the environment. The aim of this study is to monitor the possible migration potential of PAEs in pelagic fish stored in vacuum packaging depending on the storage time and to determine the polyethylene polymers. This study aimed to determine the potential toxicological effects of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), their modifications with ethylenediamine (ED) and boric acid (BA) on aquatic organisms. Specifically, the research focused on the morphological, physiological, and histopathological-immuno-histochemical responses in zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos and larvae, via applying different concentrations of CNTs, CNT-ED, and CNT-ED-BA (Control, 5, 10, and 20 mg/L). Physico-chemical properties of fish flesh are reliable predictors of fillet quality and nutritional value. Background: In this study, the effects of biofilm coatings obtained by immobilization of different borates - namely borax (BX), colemanite (COL), and ulexite (UX) - with chitosan (Ch) on the shelf life of rainbow trout fillets were investigated. The immobilization and characterization of borates in Ch were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and zeta potential analysis.
