In this work, a series of π-conjugated Subphthalocyanine dimers assembled by simple π-bridges were efficiently synthesized through metal-catalyzed reactions. Despite being singly linked, these readily accessible arrays exhibit excellent π-electron communication, significantly perturbing the orbital distribution of conventional SubPcs and inducing notable alterations in their optical properties. The findings presented here demonstrate the potential of SubPcs for constructing curved porphyrin arrays with well-conjugated skeletons and intriguing functionalities.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the most serious complications of cisplatin anticancer therapies. Cilastatin is a highly promising nephroprotective agent to eventually enter clinical use, but its biochemical mechanism is still not fully understood. We have employed an untargeted metabolomics approach based on capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry (CE-MS) analysis of serum and urine from an in vivo rat model, to explore the metabolic pathways involved in cisplatin-induced AKI and cilastatin nephroprotection.

Calculations were based on: TCS migration data (under the worst-case foreseeable conditions), MPs abundance and TCS bioaccessibility from microplastics (MPs), leached from containers under microwave heating. Bioaccessibility studies were performed with in vitro digestion of MPs, followed by liquid-liquid extraction of TCS from digestive fluids and LC-QqQ-MS analysis yielding values of 46 ± 9%.

In this sense, using nature as a reference can be an appropriate option to design this type of material. Therefore, in this work, a comparative study of a selection of eight representative models of a wide variety of existing solutions, both bioinspired and proposed by various researchers, is presented.

Employing a SILAC proteomics strategy, we identified over 150 de-regulated proteins following exposure to the nanosystem. These proteins play pivotal roles in diverse cellular processes, including mitochondrial fission, calcium homeostasis, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, oxidative stress response, migration, invasion, protein synthesis, RNA maturation, chemoresistance, and cellular proliferation.

To strongly enhance light-matter interaction in such monolayers, nanoparticle-on-a-mirror (NPoM) cavities can be formed by placing metal nanoparticles on such chemically functionalized metallic monolayers. In this work, we present a novel functionalization process of gold surfaces using 5-amino-2-mercaptobenzimidazole (5-A-2MBI) molecules, which can be used for upconversion from THz to visible frequencies.

This study presents a systematic review of the scientific and technological production related to the use of systems based on UV, HO, and Cl for the elimination of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and genes associated with antibiotic resistance (ARGs). Using the Pro Know-C (Knowledge Development Process-Constructivist) methodology, a portfolio was created and analyzed that includes 19 articles and 18 patents published between 2011 and 2022. The results show a greater scientific-technological production in UV irradiation systems (8 articles and 5 patents) and the binary combination UV/HO (9 articles and 4 patents).

Here, we revealed DNA-modulated and mechanoresponsive excitonic couplings between organic chromophores and verified strong correlations between the excitonic chiroptical responses and the conformational and mechanical states of DNA self-assemblies irrespective of fluorescence background interference. Besides, the excitonic chiroptical effect allowed sensitive monitoring of DNA self-assembled nanostructures due to small molecule bindings or DNA strand displacement reactions.

This study reports the synthesis, electronic properties, and reactivity of borylated subphthalocyanines. These compounds, which are prepared by Suzuki-Miyaura borylation in excellent yields, are easily purified, display a great stability, and serve as powerful starting materials for the post-functionalization of SubPcs via cross-coupling reactions.

A combination of omics techniques (transcriptomics and metabolomics) has been used to elucidate the mechanisms responsible for the antitumor action of a nanosystem based on a Ag core coated with mesoporous silica on which transferrin has been anchored as a targeting ligand against tumor cells (Ag@MSNs-Tf). Transcriptomics analysis has been carried out by gene microarrays and RT-qPCR, while high-resolution mass spectrometry has been used for metabolomics. This multi-omics strategy has enabled the discovery of the effect of this nanosystem on different key molecular pathways including the glycolysis, the pentose phosphate pathway, the oxidative phosphorylation and the synthesis of fatty acids, among others.

Background: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 has spread globally, causing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. To control the pandemic and to achieve herd immunity, four vaccines have obtained market authorization in Europe. Researchers have reported that the sequence of administration of the vaccines depends on the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and age, recommending the vaccine to pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The optical biosensors are based on evanescent wave technology and, in particular, on Resonant Rings (RRs) fabricated in silicon nitride. The novel biosensors were packaged in an integrated sensing cartridge that included a microfluidic channel for buffer/sample delivery and an optical fiber array for the optical operation of the PICs.

In this work, we demonstrate photonic biosensing using silicon nitride ring resonators operated in the TM mode around 1310 nm wavelengths. Our results show that operating the devices using the TM mode results in an increased sensitivity in comparison with the typically used TE mode, while working at 1310 nm wavelengths compared to 1550 nm contributes to an increased quality factor.

The COVID-19 is a "unique" stressor, which can produce physical and psychological trauma. Coping styles can buffer this psychological impact. Consequently, this paper aims to psychometrically adapt the Fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19S) to Spanish and examines the relationships between FCV-19S, stress response, and coping strategies.

The control of all the steps for resin preparation and printing through morphological (SEM), structural (Raman spectroscopy) and functional (I/V measurements) characterizations allowed us to obtain conductive 3D objects of complex and reproducible geometry. These systems can interact with chemical vapors in the long term by providing a consistent and detectable variation of their structural and conductive characteristics.
