Network slicing is a vital component of the 5G system to support diverse network scenarios, creating virtual networks (slices) by mapping virtual network requests to real networks. The mapping is an arduous computing process, mathematically studied and known as the Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) problem, and its complexity is NP-Hard. The mapping process is oriented to respect the QoS demands from the virtual network requests and the available resources in the physical-substrate infrastructure.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been responsible for the severe pandemic of acute respiratory disease, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), experienced in the 21st century. The clinical manifestations range from mild symptoms to abnormal blood coagulation and severe respiratory failure. In severe cases, COVID-19 manifests as a thromboinflammatory disease.

DNA methylation is a process that can affect gene accessibility and therefore gene expression. In this study, a machine learning pipeline is proposed for the prediction of breast cancer and the identification of significant genes that contribute to the prediction. The current study utilized breast cancer methylation data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), specifically the TCGA-BRCA dataset.

Gay and lesbian health agendas.

Cien Saude Colet

October 2022

The aim of this study was to validate gay and lesbian health agendas pushed by organizations representing these groups. To this end, we created a health agenda matrix based on 25 narratives of representatives from 16 different gay and lesbian groups in ten state capitals in Brazil collected in another study. Each agenda was considered to have reached consensus when the mean score was equal to or greater than seven and SD was equal to or less than two.

Article Synopsis
  • * A thorough analysis of dairy slurry revealed a diverse population of ARB and ARGs, where antibiotic resistances were linked to various bacteria and mobile genetic elements, indicating they are in a dynamic state of equilibrium.
  • * The study suggests that storing slurry without new waste for at least 60 days can substantially reduce the spread of certain resistant bacteria, and emphasizes the importance of combining responsible antibiotic practices with effective slurry management to combat AMR.

The golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) is commonly used as a promising model for Leishmania braziliensis infection developing skin-ulcerated lesions. However, different protocols using high concentration of parasites inoculated in the footpad result in severe clinical disease. Here, we further investigate the outcome of the site of infection and concentration of L.

Salivary glands are vital structures responsible for successful tick feeding. The saliva of ticks contains numerous active molecules that participate in several physiological processes. A Kunitz-type factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor, similar to the tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) precursor, was identified in the salivary gland transcriptome of ticks.

Background: Coronary artery disease is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The impact of ventricular arrhythmias with impaired cardiac vagal activity is one of the most recently studied prognostic factors. However, there are no studies evaluating the phenomenon of heart rate turbulence (HRT) during physical exertion.

Plasmidic AmpC (pAmpC) enzymes are responsible for the hydrolysis of extended-spectrum cephalosporins but they are not routinely investigated in many clinical laboratories. Phenotypic assays, currently the reference methods, are cumbersome and culture dependent. These methods compare the activity of cephalosporins with and without class C inhibitors and the results are provided in 24-48 h.

Article Synopsis
  • Leishmaniases, particularly tegumentary leishmaniasis (TL), are neglected tropical diseases caused by various Leishmania species and transmitted by sand flies, exhibiting different clinical forms based on genetic and environmental factors.
  • Host genetic factors, like single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in immune response genes, play a crucial role in either increasing susceptibility or providing resistance to TL, with studies conducted globally, including in Brazil.
  • Understanding these genetic influences can inform future immunotherapy developments since current treatments are often toxic and there is no available vaccine for humans.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of including different oilseed grains in the diets of cattle on the qualitative and sensory characteristics and fatty acid profile of burger over a storage period of up to 120 days. The soybean diet increased 30% of ether extract in burgers when compared to the control diet. The inclusion of oilseeds in the bovine diet did not change the -6/-3 and hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio, as well as the cholesterol levels in the burgers.

Herein, we assessed milk hormones, the biochemical composition of milk, and its association with neonatal body weight gain and metabolic homeostasis in weaned rats whose mothers were undernourished in the last third of pregnancy. From the 14th day of pregnancy until delivery, undernourished mothers had their food restricted by 50% (FR50), whereas control mothers were fed ad libitum. The litter size was adjusted to eight pups, and rats were weaned at 22 days old.

Introduction: Myasthenia gravis is characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness that improves with rest and worsens with effort or throughout the day.

Areas Covered: Efgartigimod is a human IgG1-derived Fc fragment modified at five residues to increase its affinity for the neonatal Fc receptor by Abdeg technology. Thus, efgartigimod binds to the neonatal Fc receptor and decreases the levels of IgG, including autoantibodies of this isotype.

Statement Of Problem: Implant-supported single crowns are more prone to screw loosening than splinted prostheses. Therefore, the locking taper system, which has a screwless abutment, may perform better when associated with this type of rehabilitation. However, systematic reviews on this system are lacking.

DUNE is a dual-site experiment for long-baseline neutrino oscillation studies, neutrino astrophysics and nucleon decay searches. ProtoDUNE Dual Phase (DP) is a 6   6   6 m liquid argon time-projection-chamber (LArTPC) that recorded cosmic-muon data at the CERN Neutrino Platform in 2019-2020 as a prototype of the DUNE Far Detector. Charged particles propagating through the LArTPC produce ionization and scintillation light.

Purpose: This study investigates the protective effect of cilostazol on the development and evolution of diabetic retinopathy in rats.

Methods: Sixty male rats were divided into four groups: untreated nondiabetic rats, untreated diabetic rats, cilostazol-treated nondiabetic rats, and cilostazol-treated diabetic rats. The thickness of the internal limiting membrane to the outer limiting membrane, inner plexiform layer, inner nuclear layer, and outer nuclear layer were measured.
