Evaluating more naturalistic outcome measures: A 1-year smartphone study in multiple sclerosis.

Objective: In this cohort of individuals with and without multiple sclerosis (MS), we illustrate some of the novel approaches that smartphones provide to monitor patients with chronic neurologic disorders in their natural setting.

Methods: Thirty-eight participant pairs (MS and cohabitant) aged 18-55 years participated in the study. Each participant received an Android HTC Sensation 4G smartphone containing a custom application suite of 19 tests capturing participant performance and patient-reported outcomes (PROs).

[Optimal treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with comorbid chronic prostatitis (category IIIA)].

The trial of efficacy of physical factors in combined treatment of BPH stage I patients with concomitant abacterial chronic prostatitis (category IIIA) enrolled 42 patients who were divided into two groups. Group 1 received combined treatment including complex physical factors (CAP-ELM-01). The efficacy of the treatment was judged by dynamics of clinical and device indices and severity of leading CP syndromes.

[Effects of pressure and flow rate of irrigation liquid on hydrodynamics of the upper urinary tract in contact ureterolithotripsy].

We studied the influence of pressure and rate of irrigative liquid flow on hydrodynamics of the upper urinary tracts in contact pneumatic lithotripsy (Litoclast lithotriptor) in 68 patients with ureteroliths and nephrostomic drainage. To a nephrostome the device was attached on which the linear change of pressure inside the pelvis was measured at the moment of visualization of the stone, its destruction and final ureteroscopy. 45 patients had nephrostome with a pelvis curl.

[Normobaric hypoxytherapy is an effective method the complex treatment of chronic prostatitis].

The purpose of research consist in an estimation of efficiency of treatment of patients with CP by using normabaric hypoxitherapy (NHT). The basic group (32 patients) received standard treatment and NHT. Control group (20 patients) received only standard treatment.

[Psychophysiological characteristics of patients with chronic prostatitis].

The aim of the study was to characterize mental changes in chronic prostatitis (CP) patients after the addition of a combination of local and central reflex physiotherapeutic factors to combined treatment 149 patients with infectious and noninfectious CP entered the study. The study group (n = 94) received combined treatment including physiotherapeutic factors (ANDRO-GIN unit). The control group (n = 55) received standard CP therapy.

[Comparative analysis of long-term results of treating chronic prostatis with the use of the Andro-Gin device].

Follow-up examinations covered 91 patients aged from 20 to 60 years with chronic prostatitis (CP) history 1-18 years. The primary examination has found that 79.1% examinees has CP complicated with sexual dysfunction, disturbed spermatogenesis and psychoneurological disorders.

[Detection of lead in environmental objects and biologic materials during monitoring].

The authors specified methods to detect lead in biologic materials. The quality control covered use of Russian and foreign standard samples, the results proved to agree. Lead was detected by AAS technique (direct and flow-type variants with preliminary concentration of lead) and ELRA method.

Safer sex: social and psychological predictors of behavioral maintenance and change among heterosexual women.

Women of diverse backgrounds from 4 community health clinics in southern Connecticut were involved in a longitudinal, prospective study (n = 189). Data from interviews 3 months apart were used for the current analyses. The purpose of this study was to develop predictive models of safer sexual behavior among heterosexual women.

[Ultrasonographic control of the renal state after remote shock- wave nephroureterolithotripsy].

The paper is concerned with the problems of ultrasound diagnosis of nephrolithiasis during distant shock-wave nephroureterolithotripsy. A scheme of ultrasound investigation of patients was developed. The morpho-functional state of the kidney was assessed during lithotripsy of calculi of different localization.

[Comparison of antibiotic complexes formed by cultures of Streptomyces griseoruber].

Physico-chemical properties of antibiotic complexes formed by various strains of Streptomyces griseoruber: VNIIA 1195, VNIIA 1193-INA 2022/55 and IMiV 1618 were compared. It was shown that the antibiotic complex 1195 differed by the electron absorption spectrum, chromatographic mobility and indicator properties from lateriomycins A and B produced by the type culture of S. griseoruber, Jamaguchi et Saburi, 1955 and strain 70717, as well as from prodigiozin produced by S.
