Biopsy material of patients with malignant and benign breast diseases was examined. HRG mRNA expression was detected in 70% of cases in biopsy material obtained from patients with nonspecific invasive carcinoma and in 66.7% of cases in biopsy material of patients with benign breast diseases.

The refractive index n is one of the most important materials parameters of solids and, in recent years, has become the subject of significant interdisciplinary interest, especially in nanostructures and meta-materials. It is, in principle, a macroscopic quantity, so its meaning on a length scale of a few nanometers, i.e.

Activities of NAD(PH)-dependent dehydrogenases in peripheral blood lymphocytes were studied in children aged 1-3 years in the dynamics of the disease caused by Epstein-Barr virus. A relationship between changes in activities of the studied enzymes and disease period was revealed. The disorders of blood lymphocyte enzymatic status persisted during convalescence.

We evaluated the percent of acute respiratory viral infections with gastrointestinal syndrome in the structure of morbidity in babies aging 6 months and elder. Therapeutic efficiency and safety of anaferon (pediatric formuation) as a component of complex therapy of acute respiratory viral infections with involvement of the gastrointestinal tract were proven; more rapid disappearance of all symptoms and improvement of the immune status parameters were demonstrated.

A hundred and sixteen patients aged 1 to 14 years who had infectious mononucleosis (IM) caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) were followed up in its acute phase and 3, 6, and 12 months after the disease experienced by them. The clinical significance of the markers of EBV infection was assessed in children with IM. The high diagnostic capacity of detection of EBV DNA in the lymphocytes was established in patients with IM.

The reproduction of the new coronavirus HCoV/SPb/01/03 in the cultured human embryo lung fibroblasts (HELFBs) was electron microscopically studied. The virus was shown to replicate in the cultured HELFBs, by using for this a cell membrane system and causing profound changes in its morphology. After 24 hours of cell infection, there were mature and defective HCoVISPb/01/03 virions were detected in the vacuoles near the peripheral cisterns of the Golgi apparatus.

As the result of prolonged (17 years) observations of patients with acute respiratory infections hospitalized in basic departments of clinics of the Research Institute of Influenza, coronavirus infection was found to be the cause of respiratory diseases, on the average, in 12% of cases (in some years in 6.8% to 28.6% of cases).

ELISA test systems were designed on the basis of synthetic peptides (SP) simulating the primary structure of functionally significant epitopes of the respiratory and cyncyntial virus (RCV) F-protein for the purpose of investigating the structure and age-related peculiarities of humoral immunity in respect to separate epitopes of RCV F-protein. One of them (221-232) simulates a part of RCV "virus-neutralizing domain" and another one (479-491) is highly important for the fusion mechanisms. New SP-based ELISA were used to examine pair sera in 159 patients with documented RCV infection including children, aged up to 3 years and 3 to 15, and adults.

New monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to adenovirus hexon, highly active in ELISA and immunofluorescent analysis, were prepared. According to competitive ELISA, new MAbs differed in their blocking activity and were directed to 2 different hexon epitopes. MAb 3H8 did not modify antigen binding of the rest MAbs labeled with peroxidase (PAb x Pox), and none of unlabeled MAbs suppressed the reaction of MAb x Pox 3H8.

The population of types I and 2 herpes simplex viruses (HSV) to be studied consisted mainly of Acyclovir-sensitive strains. In some cases Acyclovir-resistant HSV strains were detected. The phenotypic profile of the Acyclovir-resistant strains were shown to have low reproduction rates in tissue cultures.

The 17-year observation of changes in the etiological pattern of acute respiratory diseases (ARD) in the country has demonstrated that different types of adenoviruses are prevalent in the circulation on the whole territory. Adenoviral infection was found to prevail among non-influenza infections in the Ukraine, RSV infection in the north of the Russian Federation and in the Far East; piconaviral infections caused by Echo and Coxsackievirus B in the Urals and Byelarus Republic. However, some years were marked by a change in various serotypes of adenoviruses and picornaviruses in different climatic and geographical zones and in different age population groups.
