Objective: Guided imagery is a relaxation technique that uses mental visualization to help individuals relax and focus their minds. This systematic review examines the effect of guided imagery on perioperative anxiety in hospitalized adult patients. The aim is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the existing evidence on the efficacy of guided imagery as an intervention for reducing perioperative anxiety.

Acupuncture and foot reflexology, two alternative therapies rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, have gained recognition for their potential to address sleep issues and alleviate associated symptoms.
Methods: This single blinded, three-groups randomized controlled trial was navigated at Tohid Hospital, involving 132 leukemia patients divided into acupuncture (n = 44), foot reflexology (n = 44), and control (n = 44) groups via random card selection.
The domestication of emu ( began in the 1970s, but their productive characteristics have not undergone significant genetic enhancement. This study investigated the inbreeding and genetic diversity of 50 emus from various farms in Japan using Double digest restriction-site associated DNA sequencing (ddRAD-seq) markers. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) calling revealed 171 975 high-quality SNPs while runs of homozygosity (ROH) analysis identified 1843 homozygous segments, with an average of 36.

Study Design: Case-control.
Objective: Although zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fractures are among the most common facial injuries, the optimal approach to management remains controversial. This study analyzes the relationship between displacement measures derived from pre-operative CT imaging and clinical symptomatology to enhance surgeon understanding of the need for operative intervention.
Betel quid chewing is a common practice in many cultures and has been associated with various health risks, including an increased likelihood of developing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This case study presents a critical instance of metastatic SCC of the lower lip induced by betel quid chewing. A 45-year-old male with a history of betel quid chewing presented with a persistent and enlarging sore on his lower lip.

Yakutian cattle are adapted to Siberia's harsh sub-arctic conditions, enduring temperatures below -70°C. However, the population genetics studies on this breed are scanty, to document the genetic uniqueness in these cattle.

Using 85,001 high-confidence SNPs, the investigation into ROH distribution unveiled nuanced patterns of autozygosity across individuals especially in 2 out of the 8 farms, exhibiting elevated ROH levels and mean genome coverage under ROH segments. The prevalence of shorter ROH segments (0.

Ontology is essential for achieving health information and information technology application interoperability in the biomedical fields and beyond. Traditionally, ontology construction is carried out manually by human domain experts (HDE). Here, we explore an active learning approach to automatically identify candidate terms from publications, with manual verification later as a part of a deep learning model training and learning process.

In animal breeding history, genetic admixture has provided both short-term and long-term advantages by utilizing the phenomenon of complementarity and heterosis in several traits and genetic diversity, respectively. The traditional method of admixture analysis by pedigree records has now been replaced greatly by genome-wide marker data that enables more precise estimations.

Introduction And Importance: Diabetic foot ulcers, a common issue associated with diabetes, can pose challenges in treatment, especially when they do not respond to traditional therapies. Maggot therapy, known as larval therapy, has surfaced as a substitute approach for managing stubborn wounds.
Case Presentation: A 42-year-old male with a history of type 2 diabetes and peripheral neuropathy presents at the clinic with a long-lasting sore on the bottom of his right foot.
In this clinical trial, 60 nurses from three geriatric centers were enlisted and randomly split into two groups: control (n = 30) and intervention (n = 30). Statistical analysis using SPSS version 21 employed Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Chi square, and t-test to assess results. The intervention group received eight training sessions.

Acupressure and foot reflexology, modalities rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, have garnered attention for their potential to address sleep disturbances and mitigate associated symptoms.
Methods: This research utilized a randomized controlled trial with a pretest-posttest design involving 102 leukemia patients admitted to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Urmia.
This case report details the journey of a 51-year-old man residing in a remote Iranian village, involved in livestock rearing, who was hospitalized due to Brucellosis contracted from consuming traditional cheese and dairy products. Initially treated with doxycycline and rifampin, complications arose during antituberculosis therapy, with the patient developing symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and edema alongside renal function deterioration necessitating medication cessation. Subsequent manifestations of proteinuria, toxic hepatitis, and nephrotic syndrome prompted renal biopsy, revealing drug-induced glomerular and tubular damage.

Method: In this randomized controlled trial with three arms and a pretest-posttest design, 102 CLL patients were randomly allocated to acupressure (n = 34), reflexology (n = 34), or control (n = 34) groups. Pre-intervention assessments were conducted using a demographic questionnaire and a fatigue scale for cancer patients.
Human myxovirus resistance 2 (MX2/MXB) is an interferon-induced GTPase that inhibits human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) infection by preventing nuclear import of the viral preintegration complex. The HIV-1 capsid (CA) is the major viral determinant for sensitivity to MX2, and complex interactions between MX2, CA, nucleoporins (Nups), cyclophilin A (CypA), and other cellular proteins influence the outcome of viral infection. To explore the interactions between MX2, the viral CA, and CypA, we utilized a CRISPR-Cas9/AAV approach to generate CypA knock-out cell lines as well as cells that express CypA from its endogenous locus, but with specific point mutations that would abrogate CA binding but should not affect enzymatic activity or cellular function.
