Effectiveness of reflex therapy on the dynamics of cognitive impairment was assessed during the observation and treatment of 77 patients with chronic vertebrobasilar insufficiency. The inclusion of acupuncture and biodynamic correction in the complex therapy of patients with chronic vertebrobasilar insufficiency increases the effectiveness of integrated treatment compared with conventional therapy that was confirmed by neuropsychological studies of patients with discirculatory encephalopathy caused by vertebral pathology.

The patients with myocardial infarction and those with myocardial and concurrent arterial hypertension proved to belong to various general populations having specific features of formation of the phenomenon of structural adaptative stabilization (SAS). There were hemodynamic variations to a single procedure of manual therapy in relation to the extent of cardiac lesion.

The authors have developed and validated algorithms, programs, regimens and techniques of manual and instrumental treatment which produced positive effects in 99% of patients with neurological syndromes of spinal affections. The criteria of the treatment discontinuation were alleviation of painful syndrome by 25-50%. This occurred, as a rule, after 3-4 sessions.

The article deals with the development of a technique for the treatment of neurodystrophic syndromes of cervical osteochondrosis precluding the use of pharmacologic drugs. The technique involving microacupuncture, originally designed manual therapeutic techniques and corporal acupuncture was applied to 87 patients with neurodystrophic syndromes of cervical osteochondrosis including patients with brachioclavicular periarthrosis, brachial epicondylitis, styloiditis. The technique made it possible to obtain a therapeutic effect 1.

Using electromyography the authors studied the functional status of the segmentary apparatus of the spinal cord in 58 patients with compression of S1-radicle secondary to vertebral osteochondrosis. The findings obtained included changes in the interferential EMG and reciprocal reflexes and decreased reflectory activity of alpha-motoneurons predominantly on the side of radicular involvement with the simultaneous intensification of gamma-loop effect. Acupuncture was followed by pain alleviation and normalization of the functional activity of the segmentary apparatus of the spinal cord mainly at the expense of this activity reduction on the healthy side.

An analysis of 117 cases of acute closed craniocerebral trauma (CCCT) of a mild degree, the time-course of the EEG, EchoEG and REG findings in the process of treatment has shown that mild CCCT was expressed clinically in CSF hypertension, as well as vegetovascular and asthenoneurotic syndromes. The detection at the early stages of the injury of the leading clinical syndrome contributes to the conduction of purposeful therapeutic measures. A positive time-course of some electrophysiological parameters indicates the normalization of vegetovascular dysfunctions under the impact of acupuncture, which permits the use of this method in the multiple modality treatment of CCCT in the acute period.

The central and peripheral hemodynamics was examined in patients with the radicular syndrome of lumbar osteochondrosis who were treated by reflexotherapy methods. In addition to the direct favourable effect of microacupuncture and classical acupuncture on the circulatory system a longer duration of the positive effect of microacupuncture was revealed. An interconnection between the favourable changes of the patient's state and the improvement of the systemic and local circulation was noted.

Results of clinical and neurophysiological observations of 96 patients treated by the new method of microacupuncture are presented. This method is a modification of classical acupuncture, and consists of implantation of a specially designed micro-needle into the skin for a long time (one to three weeks). Possible mechanisms of the effects of this therapy method on the body are discussed.
