Background Objectives: Dengue is arthropod-borne, acute potentially fatal viral infection, endemic in many tropical and sub-tropical countries having public health threat globally in recent era. Effective and prompt diagnosis is very essential to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with severe form. Diagnosis by dengue-specific markers like Non-Structural protein 1 antigen or IgM/IgG antibody by serological method is the choice of investigation and the most widely used non-specific biomarker is platelet count.

Background: Fever is characterized by an upregulation of the thermoregulatory set-point after the body encounters any pathological challenge. It is accompanied by uncomfortable sickness behaviors and may be harmful in patients with other comorbidities. We have explored the impact of an Ayurvedic medicine, Fevogrit, in an endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide)-induced fever model in Wistar rats.

This study evaluates the performance advancement of electronic noses, on-chip engineered multisensor systems, exploiting a combinatorial approach. We analyze a spectrum of metal oxide semiconductor materials produced by individual methods of liquid-phase synthesis and a combination of chemical deposition and sol-gel methods with hydrothermal treatment. These methods are demonstrated to enable obtaining a fairly wide range of nanomaterials that differ significantly in chemical composition, crystal structure, and morphological features.

Metformin (MET) can be an alternative therapeutic strategy for managing ocular burn primarily because of its pleiotropic mechanism. Longer retention on the ocular surface and sustained release are necessary to ensure the efficacy of MET for ocular application. Although the high aqueous solubility of MET is good for formulation and biocompatibility, it makes MET prone to high nasolacrimal drainage.

Treatment with cationic amphiphilic drugs like Amiodarone leads to development of phospholipidosis, a type of lysosomal storage disorder characterized by excessive deposition of phospholipids. Such disorder in liver enhances accumulation of drugs and its metabolites, and dysregulates lipid profiles, which subsequently leads to hepatotoxicity. In the present study, we assessed pharmacological effects of herbal medicine, Livogrit, against hepatic phospholipidosis-induced toxicity.

Vancomycin, is widely used against methicillin-resistant bacterial infections. However, Vancomycin accumulation causes nephrotoxicity which leads to an impairment in the filtration mechanisms of kidney. Traditional herbal medicines hold potential for treatment of drug-induced nephrotoxicity.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease affecting young women in their second and third decades, coinciding with their reproductive years. We aim to explore the choices and challenges in the treatment of MG in pregnancy. Cochrane, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Embase were the four databases systematically searched for studies with patients reporting pregnancy outcomes for women with MG during pregnancy using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) technique.

Obesity has become an unprecedented epidemic worldwide owing to a prolonged imbalance between energy intake and expenditure. Available therapies primarily suppress energy intake but often fail to produce sustained fat loss, necessitating a more efficacious strategy to combat obesity. In this study, a polyherbal formulation, Divya-WeightGo (DWG) has been investigated for its anti-obesity activity using in-vitro and in-vivo assays.

Metformin is known to lower inflammation, independent of its anti-diabetic action. Thus, topical metformin can be a therapeutic strategy for managing ocular inflammation associated with diabetes. To achieve this and address the issues of ocular retention and controlled release an in situ gel of metformin was developed.

Atherosclerosis is the main pathological process of several cardiovascular diseases. It may begin early in life and stay latent and asymptomatic for an extended period before its clinical manifestation. The formation of foamy macrophages due to dysregulated lipid metabolism is a key event in the development and progression of atherosclerotic plaque.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the patients' colorectal area culminating in an inflamed 'leaky gut.' The majority of UC treatments only provide temporary respite leading to its relapse. Therefore, this study investigated the efficacy of the enteric-coated 'Cologrit' (EC) tablet in alleviating UC-like inflammation.

Background: The prevalence of diabetes has considerably increased in recent years. In the long run, use of dual therapy of anti-diabetic agents becomes mandatory to attain euglycemia. Also, the incidences of diabetes-related co-morbidities have warranted the search for new therapeutic approaches for the management of the disease.

The herbo-mineral formulation, Divya-Swasari-Vati (DSV), is a well-known Ayurvedic medication for respiratory ailments. In a recent pre-clinical study, DSV rescued humanized zebrafish from SARS-CoV-2 S-protein-induced pathologies. This merited for an independent evaluation of DSV as a SARS-CoV-2 entry inhibitor in the human host cell and its effectiveness in ameliorating associated cytokine production.

The prevalence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), characterized by fatty liver, oxidative injury, and inflammation, has considerably increased in the recent years. Due to the complexity of NASH pathogenesis, compounds which can target different mechanisms and stages of NASH development are required. A robust screening model with translational capability is also required to develop therapies targeting NASH.

Introduction: A novel anticancer therapy is the need of the hour due to growing incidences of resistance to first line cancer chemotherapy. Synthetic lethality (SL) is one of the new age treatment methods being explored for combating the resistance to anticancer agents. In this method, cell mutations are exploited for the development of new therapeutic agents, where, if there is loss of function of one gene, the cell mutations can still be fixed by alternative machinery but if two genes involved in DNA repair undergo loss of function, it causes lethality to the cell.

Cancer consists of heterogeneous multiple cell subpopulation which at a later stage develop resistant phenotypes, which include resistance to pro-apoptotic stimuli and/or cytotoxic resistance to anticancer compounds. The property of cancerous cells to affect almost any part of the body categorizes cancer to many anatomic and molecular subtypes, each requiring a particular therapeutic intervention. As several modalities are hindered in a variety of cancers and as the cancer cells accrue varied types of oncogenic mutations during their progression the most likely benefit will be obtained by a combination of therapeutic agents that might address the diverse hallmarks of cancer.

Conventional grain ethanol manufacturing is a high-temperature energy-intensive process comprising of multiple-unit operations when combined with lower ethanol recovery results in higher production cost. In liquefaction, jet cooking accounts for significant energy cost, while strong acid or base used for pH adjustment presents a safety hazard. A need is felt for sustainable ethanol manufacturing process that is less hazardous, consumes lower energy, and operates in a low pH range of 4.

This study evaluated the conventional jet cooking liquefaction process followed by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) at 30% and 35% dry solids (DS) concentration of Indian sorghum feedstock for ethanol production, with addition of acid fungal protease or urea. To evaluate the efficacy of thermostable α-amylase in liquefaction at 30% and 35% DS concentration of Indian sorghum, liquefact solubility, higher dextrins, and fermentable sugars were analyzed at the end of the process. The liquefact was further subjected to SSF using yeast.
