Background And Objective: Digital technologies offer opportunities for remote monitoring, increased patient engagement and incorporation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) into interstitial lung disease (ILD) care and research. This study evaluated the usability and patient experience of the RE-BUILD (Registry for Better Understanding of ILD) application, an ILD-specific smartphone app.
Methods: Patients with ILD aged ≥18 years were recruited from three tertiary ILD centres to use the RE-BUILD app for 6 months.

Background: Advanced lung diseases are prevalent in women, yet are underrecognized and under-treated due to differing epidemiology and pathophysiology.
Aim: To investigate any gender differences in access to palliative care and end-of-life management for patients with advanced lung diseases.
Methods: A post-hoc analysis was conducted using three datasets that included information regarding the provision of palliative care to patients with advanced lung diseases - chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (f-ILD) or non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in tertiary and regional hospitals in Victoria, Australia, from 2004 to 2019.
Background: Lung function testing remains a cornerstone in the assessment and management of interstitial lung disease (ILD) patients. The clinical implications of the Global Lung function Initiative (GLI) reference equations and the updated interpretation strategies remain uncertain.
Methods: Adult patients with ILD with baseline forced vital capacity (FVC) were included from the Australasian ILD registry and the National Healthcare Group ILD registry, Singapore.
Research Background: Preparation of medicinal fungi for experimental purposes usually involves the extraction and determination of the quality and quantity of bioactive compounds prior to the biological experiment. Water, a common polar solvent, is usually used for traditional preparations for consumption. The application of high temperatures during water extraction can affect the chemical composition and functional properties of the extracts.

Enzymatic catalysis is a much greener and more enantioselective alternative, and cascade biotransformations with multi-step reactions can be performed in one pot to avoid costly intermediate isolation and minimise waste generation. One of the most attractive applications of enzymatic cascade transformations is to convert easily available simple racemic substrates into valuable functionalised chiral chemicals in high yields and ee.

The measures of interest included survival (mortality before first calving and time to removal from the herd), health (retained fetal membranes, metritis, mastitis, and SCC), and production (305-d mature-equivalent milk yield and time to first calving). A secondary objective was to investigate if these associations varied according to the age of the calf when the case of diarrhea occurred.

A 59-year-old woman with Primary Sjogren's disease and interstitial lung disease, was trialled on a Fisher and Paykel myAIRVO™ system. She reported sustained benefits of uninterrupted sleep and increased socialization with tapering use of HHFT.

Integrating genomic information such as methylation into pharmacogenetic models holds the potential to improve their accuracy and consequently prescribing decisions. Cytochrome P450 2D6 () is a highly polymorphic gene conventionally associated with the metabolism of commonly used drugs and endogenous substrates.

Self-schemas, which can be determined by Self-Referential Judgements (SRJs), are heterogeneous yet stable. SRJs have been used to characterize personality in the general population and shown to be prognostic in depressive and anxiety disorders.

In 2017 the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and Lung Foundation Australia (LFA) published a position statement on the treatment of IPF. Since that time, subsidized anti-fibrotic therapy in the form of pirfenidone and nintedanib is now available in both Australia and New Zealand.

This study examined the impact of the pandemic on daily life, psychological wellbeing and access to healthcare and identified approaches undertaken to remain safe.
Methods: Four specialist clinics in tertiary centres in Australia (Victoria: two sites; New South Wales: one site; Western Australia: one site) recruited patients with ILD during an 8-week period from March 2021.
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with adsorbed single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) are applied as sensors to investigate biological systems, with potential applications ranging from clinical diagnostics to agricultural biotechnology. Unique ssDNA sequences render SWCNTs selectively responsive to target analytes such as (GT)-SWCNTs recognizing the neuromodulator, dopamine. It remains unclear how the ssDNA conformation on the SWCNT surface contributes to functionality, as observations have been limited to computational models or experiments under dehydrated conditions that differ substantially from the aqueous biological environments in which the nanosensors are applied.

Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of breast referral triage during Covid-19.
Design: Retrospective case study.
Setting: Primrose Breast Unit, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
Using a fluorescence complementation assay, Delivered Complementation in Planta (DCIP), we demonstrate cell-penetrating peptide-mediated cytosolic delivery of peptides and recombinant proteins in Nicotiana benthamiana. We show that DCIP enables quantitative measurement of protein delivery efficiency and enables functional screening of cell-penetrating peptides for in-planta protein delivery. Finally, we demonstrate that DCIP detects cell-penetrating peptide-mediated delivery of recombinantly expressed proteins such as mCherry and Lifeact into intact leaves.

Despite this, there is limited information and understanding on the experience of this group of patients with chronic cough. This study aimed to explore the symptom experiences for chronic cough in patients with ILD to identify its characteristics and impacts.

Methods: Four specialist clinics in tertiary centres in Australia (Victoria:2 sites; New South Wales: 1 site; Western Australia: 1 site) recruited patients with ILD during an 8-week period from March 2021.
Objectives: Fibrotic interstitial lung disease (ILD) includes a large group of conditions that lead to scarring of the lungs. The lack of available 5-level EuroQol 5D (EQ5D) data has limited the ability to conduct economic evaluations in ILD. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a mapping algorithm that predicts EQ5D utilities from commonly collected pulmonary function measurements (forced vital capacity [FVC] and diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide [DLCO]) in fibrotic ILDs.

We evaluated eligibility criteria for phase III IPF RCTs to determine their representativeness in clinical registries, and calculated forced vital capacity (FVC) changes according to eligibility criteria.
Methods: Common eligibility criteria used in >60% of IPF RCTs were identified from a literature search and applied to patients with IPF from prospective Australian and Canadian registries.

Background: Surgical videos uploaded on social media platforms like YouTube augment the learning experience of advanced procedures like major laparoscopic liver resection (LLR). However, because of the heterogeneous quality, the educational value of such videos is unproven. This study assesses the educational value of YouTube's top 20 most viewed major LLR videos.
