Melanocytoma of the optic disc.

On the occasion of the observation of 4 cases of melanocytoma of the optic disc, the authors stress the relative rarity of this pigmented tumor, its benignity and its frequent association with a choroidalnevus. The melanocytoma is mostly stationary and produces no functional symptoms. It is generally diagnosed after the age of 30, and its pathogenesis is unknown.

Double optic pit with wedge-shaped choroidal dystrophy.

A case of double optic pit is presented with minimal macular involvement but with an extensive wedge-shaped area of choroidal dystrophy in the nasal fundus. This wedge-shaped area of dystrophy is ophthalmoscopically and fluoroangiographically similar to the lesions of choroidal infarction. As however, it is situated near the nasal pit it might be the result of an unnoticed serous detachement related to the presence of the pit.

Comparative ultrasonographic study of the effect of pilocarpine 2% and Ocusert P 20 on the eye components.

The ultrasonographic examination of pilocarpine 2%- and Ocusert P 20-treated eyes clearly demonstrated that the side effects, such as accommodative myopia and changes of the anterior chamber depth and of the lens thickness, were less pronounced in the Ocusert-treated group.

[Ultrasonics in the diagnosis of retinal detachment].

With the help of ultrasonography, 360 cases of opaque anterior segment of the eye have been examined. In these, 99 cases (27%) of retinal detachment have been found. Also in 200 cases of opaque media of the posterior segment, 61 cases (30%) of retinal detachment were present.

Ultrasonographic study of 100 emmetropic eyes.

The results of the ultrasonographic measurements of the ocular components in 100 emmetropic eyes of nearly the same age, are presented and the possible relations between the various ocular parameters are discussed. A definite correlation was found (1) between the eye length and the curvature radius of the anterior corneal surface; (2) between the eye length and the anterior chamber depth, and (3) between the eye length and the vitreous length. No correlation could be demonstrated between the lens thickness and the eye length.

Ultrasonographic study of the effect of different miotics on the eye components.

The effect of topical instillations of carbachol 3%, pilocarpine 2%, aceclidine 2%, aceclidine 2%-adrenaline 1%, and of the Ocusert delivery system was determined and compared in 151 eyes.
