Purpose: The widespread and sustained use of mobile and cordless phones causes unprecedented increase of radiofrequency radiation (RFR). The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the effect of 900 MHz Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)-modulated RFR (average whole body Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of 0.4 W/kg, 10 or 20 min daily for consecutive 7 days) to the liver tissue of guinea pigs and the protective effects of antioxidant treatments.

However, there is no study evaluating the effects of intravenous (IV) magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) therapy on spinal anaesthesia characteristics in severely pre-eclamptic patients.
Aims: The aim of this study was to compare spinal anaesthesia characteristics in severely pre-eclamptic parturients treated with MgSO4 and healthy preterm parturients undergoing caesarean section.
Objective: In this study, we evaluated the relationship between ferritin levels and disease activation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.
Material And Methods: We included 44 patients with RA, 20 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), 25 patients with infection, 22 patients with malignancy, and 20 healthy control subjects. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), whole blood count, and serum iron parameters were determined in all cases.
Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a rare tumor originating from mesenchymal tissue and accounting for approximately 5-10% of all soft tissue sarcomas. A rare case of primary pulmonary SS in an asymptomatic 18-year-old man admitted to our hospital for investigation of a 6 × 6.5 cm, oval-shaped, well-delineated pleural based peripheral mass in the left lower lobe in his thorax CT is presented.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY This study examines the risk of falling in elderly patients who underwent hip fracture surgery in the orthopaedic clinic during the postoperative period. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was a cross-sectional study. The study sample consisted of 71 elderly patients aged more than 65 years undergoing hip fracture surgery.

Raji cells were exposed to 1.

This report investigates the feasibility and reliability of metatarsal artery perforator (MAP)-based propeller flap for reconstruction of the distal foot soft-tissue defects. Between July 2011 and June 2012, six patients underwent distal foot reconstruction with seven MAP-based propeller flaps.

This study investigated the effects of intermittent exposure (15 min on, 15 min off for 1, 2, 3, or 4 h, at a specific absorption rate of 2 W/kg) to enhanced data rates for global system for mobile communication evolution-modulated radiofrequency radiation (RFR) at 900- and 1,800-MHz frequencies on the viability of the Hepatocarcinoma cells (Hep G2). Hep G2 cell proliferation was measured by a colorimetric assay based on the cleavage of the tetrazolium salt WST-1 by mitochondrial dehydrogenases in viable cells. Cell injury was evaluated by analyzing the levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and glucose released from lysed cells into the culture medium.

The present study aimed to investigate the possible effect of pulse-modulated radiofrequency radiation (RFR) on rat skin hydroxyproline content, since skin is the first target of external electromagnetic fields. Skin hydroxyproline content was measured using liquid chromatography mass spectrometer method. Two months old male wistar rats were exposed to a 900 MHz pulse-modulated RFR at an average whole body specific absorption rate (SAR) of 1.

Aim: To explore lipocalin-2 (LCN-2) expression and its possible role and mechanism(s) of production in rat models of diet-inducible fatty liver.
Methods: Fatty liver was triggered in male Sprague-Dawley rats fed either with liquid Lieber-DeCarli (LDC) or LDC + 70% cal fructose (L-HFr) diet for 4 or 8 wk. Chow-nourished animals served as controls.

Background: The mean platelet volume (MPV) reflects the size of platelets. It has been shown to be inversely correlated with level of the inflammation in some chronic inflammatory diseases. This prospective study aims to show the usability of MPV as an inflammation marker in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) by comparison with healthy controls.

The collagen type I alpha1 (COL1A1) gene is suggested to be implicated in reduced bone mineral density (BMD) in osteoporosis. In the present study, the investigation of the effects of Sp1 polymorphic variants of COL1A1 gene on BMD values, and the determination of the association between COL1A1 Sp1 gene variants and osteoporosis risk factors in the context of gene-environment interaction in Turkish postmenopausal women were aimed.

Physiological processes in organisms can be influenced by extremely low-frequency (ELF) electromagnetic energy. Biological effect studies have great importance; as well as measurement studies since they provide information on the real exposure situations. In this study, the leakage magnetic fields around a transformer were measured in an apartment building in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, and the measurement results were evaluated with respect to the international exposure standards.

Currently, researchers can easily find, cite and store references using citation management software. In this review, two popular citation management software programs (EndNote and Mendeley) are summarized.

Because the distal medulla of the femur is wider than the middle diaphysis and intramedullary nails cannot completely fill the intramedullary canal, intramedullary nailing of distal femoral fractures can be difficult when trying to obtain adequate reduction. Some different methods exist for achieving reduction.
