There are conflicting data regarding the prognostic effect of microvascular density (MVD) in breast cancer and its molecular subtypes. It is thought that high levels of FOXP3 + T cells in breast cancer are associated with poor prognosis. However, data regarding FOXP3 show significant variability in the literature.

The research aims to emphasize the importance of site selection in snail farming by examining how differences in environmental variables and regional characteristics influence the mineral content of Cornu aspersum snails. This is achieved through a comparative analysis of the mineral contents in their muscle tissue and shells, including calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, ash, and dry matter, across two locations in the Black Sea region: Fatsa (F) and Sinop (S). The study found that snails allocate resources based on available calcium to strengthen their shells for survival.

Feline hemotropic mycoplasmosis is an emerging infectious disease in domestic cats caused by a group of hemotropic species, including three main species: (), Mycoplasma hemominutum (Mhm), and Mycoplasma turicensis (Mt). The primary objective of this investigation was to ascertain the molecular prevalence and characterization of hemotropic mycoplasmas in domestic cats from twenty-three districts of Konya province in Türkiye. For this purpose, 384 apparently healthy cats belonging to different breeds were enrolled in this study.

Aims: To assess the outcomes of robotic surgery for patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunctions (NLUTD).

Materials And Methods: Studies evaluating the outcomes (efficacy and safety) of robot-assisted ileal conduit creation or artificial urinary sphincter (R-AUS) implantation or augmentation cystoplasty or continent urinary diversion creation in patients with NLUTD were included. The search strategy and studies selection were performed on Medline, Embase and Cochrane using the PICOS method according to the PRISMA statement (PROSPERO 2022 CRD42022333157).

Nanomaterials with piezoelectric properties can significantly improve the applicability of polymers used in tissue engineering applications. In this study, we report the one-step synthesis of a novel hybrid piezoelectric composite comprising barium titanates and boron nitride nanotubes. This composite is distinguished by its unique microstructures, including nanoflakes, triangular boron nitride structures, and fiber-like boron nitride nanotube configurations, which contribute to its enhanced piezoelectric properties.

Introduction: The aim of our study is to comparatively analyze the canal cyclic fatigue resistance of widely used rotary file systems, including EndoArt Touch Gold (ETG), Perfect MTF Plus Gold (PPG), Fanta V-Taper Gold (FVG), and ProTaper Next (PTN).

Methods: Stainless steel canals with a 60° angle and a 3-mm curvature radius were specially prepared. The canals were shaped with each rotary file system and tested for resistance using a cyclic fatigue testing apparatus.

Macrophages are among the most important components of the innate immune system where the interaction of pathogens and their phagocytosis occur as the first barrier of immunity. When nanomaterials interact with the human body, they have to face macrophages as well. Thus, understanding of nanomaterials-macrophage interactions and underlying mechanisms is crucial.

Purpose: Many patients receiving intravesical BCG treatment for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer experience high recurrence rates despite initial adequate response. In this study, the effectiveness of intravesical chemohyperthermia (CHT) with mitomycin C (MMC) was evaluated in patients who developed relapse after intravesical BCG treatment or could not tolerate the treatment and could not undergo radical cystectomy for any reason.

Materials And Methods: 59 patients who underwent complete bladder tumour resection, who had a T1 high-grade tumour and no variant histology was observed in the pathology, and who had previously received intravesical BCG treatment were included in the study.

Background: Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) contribute to erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE). However, only a few studies have been conducted with representative groups of men that had well-balanced demographic characteristics. Thus, we aimed to confirm the effect of LUTS on ED and PE and to analyze the association between LUTS and men's sexual activity in a large representative cohort.

Article Synopsis
  • - Internal urethrotomy (IU) is commonly used for treating urethral strictures but has a high recurrence rate, with no current markers to predict this recurrence.
  • - A study of 250 male patients showed a 31.2% recurrence rate after IU, finding a significant correlation between monocyte to HDL-C ratio (MHR) and recurrence; higher MHR linked to increased recurrence risk.
  • - The research suggests that MHR could serve as a useful prognostic factor for predicting urethral stricture recurrence following IU, with an optimal cut-off value identified at 1.72.

Purpose: This study aims to compare the clinicopathological and prognostic features of women aged 40 years and younger and 65 years and older with breast cancer.

Methods: Between January 2011 and December 2021, 136 female cases aged 40 years and younger and 223 female cases aged 65 and over were identified among all cases (1395 cases) registered as breast cancer in the file archives of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Oncology for the study. A Chi-square (× 2) test was used for categorical variables, and an independent sample t-test for continuous variables.

Purpose: The effect of overactive bladder (OAB) on sexual health has been evaluated extensively for women but much less for men. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between OAB and men's sexual activity and the effect of OAB on erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) in a large representative cohort of men at the population level.

Methods: This study was based on computer-assisted web interviews that used validated questionnaires.

Article Synopsis
  • In Türkiye, malaria was eradicated in 2010, but there are still imported cases, leading researchers to compare two rapid diagnostic tests for malaria detection: SD-Pf/Pan and SD-Pf/Pv, against microscopy and RT-PCR.
  • The study involved testing blood samples from 66 suspected malaria cases, with microscopy and RT-PCR confirming 30 positive cases, while both rapid tests showed high sensitivity and specificity results, with SD-Pf/Pan performing slightly lower on some measures.
  • The findings suggest that both rapid tests can effectively diagnose malaria, but results should be validated with microscopy and RT-PCR for accurate diagnosis.
