: Salvage treatment options have not been validated in relapsed or refractory germ cell tumors. Moreover, the study populations including these patients have different heterogeneities. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of three cycles of TIP sequential high-dose chemotherapy in patients with testicular non-seminomatous germ cell tumors who relapsed or had a refractory course after first-line platinum-based chemotherapy.

Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly improved cancer treatment, a substantial proportion of patients do not benefit from these therapies, revealing the crucial need to identify reliable biomarkers. Inflammatory markers, such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), pan-immune inflammation value (PIV), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and C-reactive protein (CRP), may provide insights into treatment outcomes. : This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of multiple inflammatory markers in patients with cancer receiving ICI-based therapies.

Reduced docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) concentrations seem to be associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD), and DHA accretion to the brain across the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) can be modulated by various factors. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify an efficient and non-invasive method to ensure brain DHA enrichment. In the present study, a safe and stable DHA-enriched nanoemulsion, designed to protect DHA against oxidation, was designed and administered intranasally in a transgenic mouse model of AD, the J20 mice.

The prognostic value of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in ischemic stroke remains debated due to cohort variability and treatment heterogeneity across studies. This study evaluates the relationship between admission NLR, stroke severity and 90-day outcomes in patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (LVO) undergoing early, successful revascularization. A retrospective multicenter study was conducted with 1082 patients treated with mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease is a chronic brain disease that includes memory and language disorders. This disease, which is considered the most common cause of dementia worldwide, accounts for 60-80% of all dementia cases. Recent studies suggest that the cerebellum may play a role in cognitive functions as well as motor functions.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to assess the effects of movement representation techniques (MRT) on pain, range of motion, functional outcomes, and pain-related fear in patients with non-specific shoulder pain (NSSP). A literature search conducted in PubMed, PEDro, EBSCO, Scopus, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, and gray literature on April 31, 2023. We selected seven randomized controlled trials based on the PICOS framework.

Infection of an adult rhesus macaque with SARS-CoV-2 led to viral RNAemia in nose, throat, and lungs. The animal also presented extended fecal shedding of viral genomic and subgenomic messenger RNA and replication-competent virus for more than 3 weeks after infection. Positron emission tomography revealed increased intestinal glucose metabolism which was histologically related to inflammation of the ileum.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the harmful effects of the pesticide etoxazole on the plant Allium cepa (onion) and explores the protective role of Achillea millefolium (yarrow) extract against this toxicity.
  • The research showed that etoxazole exposure significantly reduced growth metrics (like rooting percentage and root length) and increased harmful cellular changes, including chromosomal abnormalities.
  • Molecular docking results indicated that etoxazole directly interacts with DNA and key proteins, while A. millefolium extract, rich in phenolic compounds, may mitigate some of the toxic effects caused by the pesticide.

Highly selective inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6is) have emerged as a standart of care for first- and second-line therapies in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) for HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. It has been reported that combination therapy is more effective than ET alone and is safe in elderly patients as well as young patients. Nevertheless, elderly and very old patients with HR+/HER2-MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) combinations are relatively underrepresented in randomized controlled trials.

Background: Physical inactivity and tobacco smoking remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Germany, smoking prevalence is high at around 30%, and only 45% achieve the WHO recommendation for physical activity (PA). Understanding how smoking and physical inactivity co-occur can inform interventions targeting these behaviours.
