Neonicotinoid pesticide use has increased around the world despite accumulating evidence of their potential detrimental sub-lethal effects on the behaviour and physiology of bees, and its contribution to the global decline in bee health. Whilst flower colour is considered as one of the most important signals for foraging honey bees (Apis mellifera), the effects of pesticides on colour vision and memory retention in a natural setting remain unknown. We trained free flying honey bee foragers by presenting artificial yellow flower feeder, to an unscented artificial flower patch with 6 different flower colours to investigate if sub-lethal levels of imidacloprid would disrupt the acquired association made between the yellow flower colour from the feeder and food reward.

The norepinephrine transporter (NET) is a key regulator of noradrenergic neurotransmission and homeostasis, regulating the norepinephrine levels in the brain and peripheral tissues. hNET is a major target in neuropsychiatric disorders such as major depressive disorder, autonomic dysfunction, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The human norepinephrine transporter gene (, ) contains 504 missense single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

Background And Aim: Given the significance of pain management in the context of diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) care, particularly in terms of ensuring patient adherence to treatment regimens, this study was undertaken to ascertain the impact of cold washing on pain and comfort levels during diabetic foot care.
Methods: A single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted in the chronic wound care clinic of a teaching and research hospital in the southeastern region of Turkey. The sample consisted of 68 patients, with 34 assigned to the cold application group and 34 assigned to the control group.

Acute appendicitis is an abrupt inflammation of the appendix, which causes symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. Computed tomography (CT) is a useful tool in accurate diagnosis of acute appendicitis; however, it causes challenges due to factors such as the anatomical structure of the colon and localization of the appendix in CT images. In this paper, a novel Convolutional Neural Network model, namely, LesionScanNet for the computer-aided detection of acute appendicitis has been proposed.

Objectives: Severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) is the leading indication for a lung transplant in younger patients. Despite the availability of validated risk scores, their influence on lung allocation has been negligible, with continued reliance on decompensation and bridging with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).This single-centre, retrospective study assessed outcome of ECMO bridging in lung transplant for PH and evaluated short-term predictability of ECMO bridging.

In brittle rocks, deformation is characterized by the initiation and propagation of cracks at both microscale and mesoscale levels. This study explores how rock texture influences the evolution of cracking networks and progressive rock damage results under uniaxial compression. 3D discrete analyses were employed to identify the critical stresses of three different rock types.

Methods: This descriptive correlational study included a total of 318 women diagnosed with osteoporosis. The data were collected using a patient identification form, including items for the plasma vitamin D level and bone mineral density score obtained by the dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry method, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.
Tryptamine, a monoamine alkaloid with an indole ring structure, is derived from the decarboxylation of the amino acid tryptophan, which is present in fungi, plants, and animals. Tryptamine analogues hold significant therapeutic potential due to their broad pharmacological activities, including roles as neurotransmitters and potential therapeutic agents for various diseases. Structural modifications of tryptamine enhance receptor selectivity and metabolic stability, improving therapeutic efficacy.

The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and systemic inflammation index (SII) are affordable and accessible inflammatory biomarkers. This research aims to evaluate the relationship between NLR, PLR, SII and SLD to determine whether inflammation contributes to pathogenesis.

Risk assessment is the first step to planning individualised preventive measures. However, despite the long use of risk assessment, and the >70 risk assessment tools currently available, PUs remain a significant concern.

CTS was cross-linked with citric acid (CA) and glutaraldehyde (GA). The adsorbents were characterized by FE-SEM/EDS, FTIR, and particle size distribution.

The investigation of this outbreak was started on 29th of December 2023. During the outbreak 11 samples were collected from the six patients with MDRCPKp.

There is evidence of the efficacy of destination therapy; however, it is not currently commissioned within the United Kingdom National Health Service due to the lack of economic evidence.
Objective: What is the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a left ventricular assist device compared to medical management for patients with advanced heart failure ineligible for heart transplantation (destination therapy)?
Methods: A systematic review of evidence on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of left ventricular assist devices as destination therapy was undertaken including, where feasible, a network meta-analysis to provide an indirect estimate of the relative effectiveness of currently available left ventricular assist devices compared to medical management.
Introduction: Peritumoral brain edema (PTBE) has been widely reported with many brain tumors, especially with glioma. Since the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is essential for maintaining minimal permeability, any alteration in the interaction of BBB components, specifically in astrocytes and tight junctions (TJ), can result in disrupting the homeostasis of the BBB and making it severely leaky, which subsequently generates edema.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the functional gliovascular unit of the BBB by examining changes in the expression of claudin (CLDN) genes and the expression of transient receptor potential (TRP) membrane channels, additionally to define the correlation between their expressions.
Purpose: This study had two main goals: to determine which rhabdomyolysis patients need haemodialysis; and to highlight the significance of blood gas parameters, particularly base excess, as predictors of the need for haemodialysis.
Method: A total of 270 patients were included in this multicentre, retrospective study. Among the patients who were transferred in from the earthquake region and developed rhabdomyolysis, those with creatine kinase (CK) values >1000 U/L were included in our study.
Background: Pulmonary embolism requires careful differential diagnosis as it is associated with a wide range of symptoms that may suggest different diseases such as chest pain, shortness of breath and syncope. Since the disease can be fatal, especially in cases where right ventricular failure and hemodynamic instability develop, prognostic markers are great importance in terms of monitoring the patient during the treatment process.
Aim: We aimed in our study to compare the relationship between the ratio of D-dimer and High Sensitive Troponin T (HsTnT) values with short-term mortality and to compare this relationship with Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (PESI) scoring.

Objectives: Van der Knaap disease or megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts (MLC), is a slowly progressive neurodegenerative disease with macrocephaly. We present a case of MLC with a confirmed homozygous MLC1 mutation who presented with a psychotic attack at a very young age.
Case Presentation: An 11-year-old girl was admitted to the emergency room with delusions, hallucinations, and irritability.
The objective of this study was to optimize the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) of Inula viscosa, focusing on the extraction yield, total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and antioxidant capacity and to evaluate its antioxidant effect in sunflower oil (SFO) storage. A water-ethanol binary solvent system was applied to extract bioactive components sustainably. Extraction parameters (temperature, time, ethanol concentration, and solvent-to-solid ratio) were optimized using a central composite rotatable design, achieving high accuracy (R > 0.
