Objective: To investigate factors associated with the prevalence and incidence of gallstone disease (GSD) in women and men of the MAUCO population-based prospective cohort.

Design: 8948 MAUCO participants (aged 38-74 years) underwent abdominal ultrasound at baseline (2015-2019); 4385 received follow-up ultrasound at years 2 or 4. Factors associated with prevalent GSD were assessed using Poisson multiple regression and with incident GSD using Cox regression models.

Here, we compared the ATAC-Seq profile of Xenopus tropicalis (Xt) osteoblasts to a variety of non mineralizing control tissues, and identified osteoblast-specific nucleosome free regions (NFRs) at 527 promoters and 6747 distal regions. Sequence analyses, Gene Ontology, RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq against four key histone marks confirmed that the distal regions correspond to bona fide osteogenic transcriptional enhancers exhibiting a shared regulatory logic with mammals.

Methylphenidate Restores Behavioral and Neuroplasticity Impairments in the Prenatal Nicotine Exposure Mouse Model of ADHD: Evidence for Involvement of AMPA Receptor Subunit Composition and Synaptic Spine Morphology in the Hippocampus.

In ADHD treatment, methylphenidate (MPH) is the most frequently used medication. The present work provides evidence that MPH restored behavioral impairments and neuroplasticity due to changes in AMPAR subunit composition and distribution, as well as maturation of dendritic spines, in a prenatal nicotine exposure (PNE) ADHD mouse model. PNE animals and controls were given a single oral dose of MPH (1 mg/kg), and their behavior was tested for attention, hyperactivity, and working memory.

[Remarks on the "Dignified death and palliative care" bill].

The Chilean House of Representatives is discussing the bill on "Dignified death and palliative care", which regulates the so-called medical assistance in dying or euthanasia. This paper will critically analyze the different aspects of the bill, particularly concerning four main dimensions, namely, the patient's condition at the time of requesting euthanasia; the doctor-patient relationship and respect for the autonomy of both parties; the idea of medicine involved in it; and the possible therapeutic alternatives to euthanasia. This critical analysis raises the need to discuss in more depth a project that has to do with such important decisions about our lives and that implies a radical change in the way of thinking and practicing medicine.

Inguinal lymph node density as a powerful predictor of cancer specific survival in patients with node-positive penile cancer.

Introduction: Penile cancer (PC) is an aggressive malignancy in which the most important prognostic factor for cancer specific survival (CSS) is the involvement of regional lymph nodes (LNs). Lymph node density (LND) could become a superior prognostic tool for CSS, by accounting for both extent of dissection and nodal disease burden. We aim to validate LND as a prognostic factor for CSS in a contemporary series of patients with PC treated and followed at a single high-volume center, treating more than 25 PC patients per year, over a 13-year period.

Methods: Clinical charts of all patients that underwent surgical management for penile cancer were reviewed. The primary end points were cancer specific survival (CSS), progression-free survival, and local recurrence free survival.

Demand for health services or professionals among adolescents: a multilevel study.

This study aimed to analyze the demand for health services or professionals by adolescents with individual determinants and contextual variables (school teaching modality and Social Vulnerability Index). Data were collected from March to June 2018, in state public schools in Olinda, Pernambuco, Brazil, through a structured questionnaire with questions from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and the National School Health Survey (PeNSE). Among the 2,454 adolescents, the proportion of those looking for a health service was higher among women; in adolescents whose mothers had a minimum of nine schooling years; in the physically active; and whose parents did not receive a family aid (Bolsa Família).

Background: Previous studies have found that a school climate of more heteronormativity is associated with adverse effects on the mental health of LGB students. Renal fossa recurrence with synchronous port site and appendicular metastases after laparoscopic nephrectomy: Role of metastases and abdominal wall en bloc resection.

Isolated renal fossa recurrence and port site metastasis after laparoscopic nephrectomy are two different entities, and despite being rare, in selected cases would benefit from surgical resection. We report the case of a 61-year-old male with local renal fossa recurrence with synchronous metastasis involving the port site, the abdominal wall and the appendix, which was successfully treated with open surgical resection and is free of metastasis or recurrence. To conclude opportune treatment of similar cases, remain a safe and curative option, and should be considered after reviewing the case within a multidisciplinary team.
