The aim of this study was to use the commercial kit AbsoluteIDQ p180 (Biocrates) for the quantification of metabolites in aqueous humor (AH), as well as to determine the optimal volume of AH that is necessary to obtain reliable and reproducible results. Different volumes of AH (10 µl, 20 µl, and 30 µl) were tested. Of the 188 metabolites measurable with the Biocrates kit, 69 were detected in AH.

Blood samples were collected before surgery and AH during surgery. Liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses of samples were performed using the AbsoluteIDQ p180 kit.

This study was intended to use targeted plasma metabolomics and advanced MLMs to develop strategies for diagnosing brain tumors. Measurement of 188 metabolites was performed on plasma samples collected from 95 patients with gliomas (grade I-IV), 70 with meningioma, and 71 healthy individuals as a control group.

The aim of the study was to quantitatively evaluate the symmetry in concentrations of various metabolites belonging to different categories. The study included AH samples from 23 patients, 74.

The deterioration of the silicone material of VPs is caused by biofilm growth on the device which leads to frequent replacement procedures and sometimes serious complications. A significant proportion of these failures is caused by species.

Therefore, new factors that may affect the development of CAD, such as the gut microbiome, are extensively investigated. This study aimed to evaluate gut microbiome composition in CAD patients in relation to the control group.

Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the prospero homeobox 1 () gene is a strong genetic susceptibility factor for this metabolic disorder and impaired β-cell function. As the role of this gene in T2DM development remains unclear, novel approaches are needed to advance the understanding of the mechanisms of T2DM development.

The influence of dental status on patients' ability to comply with advice on chewing behaviour is poorly documented. This study aims to compare modifications of chewing function before and after BS in three groups of obese patients differing in dental status.

For 20 years, on a worldwide scale, the prevalence of obesity has always progressed as well in child as in adult. Obesity is frequently associated with other pathologies: cardiovascular, oncologic, systemic (diabetes) or oral. In this situation, the follow-up of obesity and its co morbidity needs a multidisciplinary approach.

Based on the significance of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) for tumor growth and angiogenesis, we have studied the effect of batimastat (BB-94), a synthetic MMPs inhibitor (MMPI) on the progression of prolactin-secreting pituitary adenoma in rats. Pituitary tumors were induced in male F344 rats by s.

The increase of K+ concentration and decrease of Na+ concentration were proportional to the increasing post-mortem time intervals. The results of the potentiometric measurements of K+ and sodium ion concentrations were significantly lower, as compared to those after flame photometry.

Seventy Lewis male rats were used in the study. The rats received injections of either 0.

This type of tumor is a rich source of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), which possesses strong mitogenic and angiogenic properties. Pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS) has been shown to exert antitumor activity by antagonizing the binding of bFGF to cell surface receptors.

The structure of epidermis and appearance of keratinocytes is described in intact skin specimens from human corpses stored after death under refrigeration. Two groups of alterations can be identified depending on the epidermal layer. In the spinous layer, the cells are characterized by crescent-shaped nuclei surrounded by a hollow area.

In this study, 16 patients were treated with unilateral injections (72 injections total) and 33 patients were managed with bilateral injections (133 injections total). Individual assignments to injection type were based on treatment previously received and dose was adjusted according to the patient's previous treatment response.

Rat skin mast cell (MC) number and density change due to the postmortem storage of the material at 6-8 degrees C during a 19-day period. Both the number and the density of the MC in the 200 microm thick subepidermal layer decreased with the square of the time (p > or = 0.99).

PCNA-positive nuclei (nPCNA+) in the basal layer of rat epidermis were assessed in the period of 0-19 days after death. The PCNA+ nuclei were present in this layer up to 12th day. The decrease in PCNA+ nuclei ratio was highly correlated with the time and followed the equation y = a + b square root(x) (y = nPCNA fraction, x = time post mortem).

The effect of uni- and bilateral neurectomy of inferior alveolar nerve on mast cell (MC) density and topography were studied in Lewis rat gingival mucosa. The results were compared with unilateral sham operation effects. The samples were taken in each group both form left and right side of gingiva, MC were revealed by pinacyanol erythrosinate and counted in connective tissue adjacent to the basal membrane of gingival epithelium.

We investigated the effect of unilateral (right side) and bilateral neurectomy of inferior alveolar nerve on PCNA-positive (PCNA+) cell frequences in the basal layer of gingival epithelium in male Lewis rats. The samples were taken in each group both from left and right side of gingiva, and the PCNA+ cells were counted separately in the epithelium from both sides in all groups.
