Importance: Black men have a higher risk of prostate cancer compared with White men, but Black adults are underrepresented in online content about prostate cancer. Across racial groups, the internet is a popular source of health information; Black adults are more likely to trust online health information, yet have more medical mistrust than White adults.
Objective: To evaluate the association between racial representation in online content about prostate cancer and trust in the content and identify factors that influence trust.
Introduction: For patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer, complete surgical cytoreduction remains the strongest predictor of outcome. However, identifying patients who are likely to benefit from such surgery remains elusive and to date few surgical outcome prediction tools have been validated. Here we attempted to externally validate a promising three protein signature, which had previously shown strong association with suboptimal surgical debulking (AUC 0.

Background: The PORTEC-3 trial investigated the benefit of combined adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy versus pelvic radiotherapy alone for women with high-risk endometrial cancer. We updated the analysis to investigate patterns of recurrence and did a post-hoc survival analysis.
Methods: In the multicentre randomised phase 3 PORTEC-3 trial, women with high-risk endometrial cancer were eligible if they had International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) 2009 stage I, endometrioid grade 3 cancer with deep myometrial invasion or lymphovascular space invasion, or both; stage II or III disease; or stage I-III disease with serous or clear cell histology; were aged 18 years and older; and had a WHO performance status of 0-2.

Background: Although women with endometrial cancer generally have a favourable prognosis, those with high-risk disease features are at increased risk of recurrence. The PORTEC-3 trial was initiated to investigate the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy during and after radiotherapy (chemoradiotherapy) versus pelvic radiotherapy alone for women with high-risk endometrial cancer.
Methods: PORTEC-3 was an open-label, international, randomised, phase 3 trial involving 103 centres in six clinical trials collaborating in the Gynaecological Cancer Intergroup.
Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) contribution in vulvar intraepithelial lesions (VIN) and invasive vulvar cancer (IVC) is not clearly established. This study provides novel data on HPV markers in a large series of VIN and IVC lesions.
Methods: Histologically confirmed VIN and IVC from 39 countries were assembled at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).
Aims: To evaluate the clinicopathological features of small cell carcinoma arising outside the lung.
Methods And Results: Thirty-seven cases with a pathology diagnosis of extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCC) were selected. The clinical notes were reviewed and tumour blocks were selected for a fresh haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) section and immunohistochemical stains.
The histologic assessment of cervical involvement in endometrial carcinoma may be problematic for a number of reasons, but an accurate evaluation of this is important for correct staging, dictating the need for adjuvant therapy, and prognostication. In this study, we assessed interobserver variation in the evaluation of cervical involvement in hysterectomy specimens of endometrial carcinoma among 6 specialist gynecologic pathologists. Seventy-six cases of endometrial carcinoma enriched for cases exhibiting some perceived issue in the assessment of cervical involvement were used.

We describe the first reported case of extensive calcification seen in association with serous cystadenofibroma of the ovary, illustrating that calcification in the female genital tract may be extensive in nature, presenting in a fashion that is not entirely typical of dystrophic or metastatic calcification. This case demonstrates that extensive calcification within the pelvis should be interpreted with caution, as it may not represent disseminated malignancy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) is a potent angiogenic cytokine that is dependent on heparan sulfate for its biological activity. We have investigated the relationship among heparan sulfate, FGF-2, and the signal-transducing receptors in human, advanced-stage, serous ovarian adenocarcinoma. Using a unique molecular probe, FR1c-Ap, which consisted of a soluble FGF receptor 1 isoform IIIc covalently linked to an alkaline phosphatase moiety, the distribution of heparan sulfate that had the ability to support the formation of a heparan sulfate/FGF-2/FGFR1 isoform IIIc alkaline phosphatase heparan sulfate construct complex was determined.
