Small ruminant lentiviruses (SRLVs) are responsible for chronic and progressive multisystemic clinical forms, which significantly reduce flocks' productivity and have a considerable economic impact on the small ruminant industry. Due to the increase in genetic analysis studies and the potential for misclassification of certain strains, owing to the high genetic variability of these viruses, a systematic review was deemed necessary. This review explores the types of matrices used for molecular detection and phylogenetic studies, the genomic regions selected as targets, and the software utilized for phylogenetic analysis, assessing the geographical distribution of identified genotypes and subgenotypes over time.

Morphological, chemical, and biomolecular approaches, including light and electron microscopy, HPLC-ESI-MS/MS, and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory assays, were used to characterize the flavedo and albedo parts, usually rich in bioactive compounds. Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), the most common form of sarcoma typical of pediatric age, arises from the malignant transformation of the mesenchymal precursors that fail to differentiate into skeletal muscle cells. Here, we investigated whether the protein phospholipase C δ4 (PLCδ4), a member of the PLC family involved in proliferation and senescence mechanisms of mesenchymal stromal stem cells, may play a role in RMS. Our molecular and morpho-functional data reveal that PLCδ4 is highly expressed in the fusion-negative, p53-positive, SMARCB1 heterozygous mutated embryonal RMS (ERMS) cell line A204, while it is poorly expressed in the ERMS cell lines RD (fusion-negative, MYC amplification, N-RAS (Q61H), homozygous mutated p53) and Hs729 (homozygous mutated p53) and the alveolar rhabdosarcoma (ARMS) cell line SJCRH30 (RH30; fusion positive, heterozygous mutated RARA, polyheterozygous mutated p53).

According to the principle of Locard "Every contact leaves a trace", when touching a surface, a bi-directional transfer of self and non-self-DNA residing on the hands and touched objects can occur. Metals are commonly encountered in forensic evidence and, during hand contact with these surfaces, a transfer of metal particles could occur together with the transfer of human DNA. This study proposes a proof-concept approach for the original detection of metal particles and touch DNA to track the activity performed by a donor and particularly to assess the metallic substrate touched before the contact with a subsequent surface.

Seronegative latent carriers (SNLCs) are animals that carry the virus without detectable antibodies and pose a risk for disease transmission and diagnostic challenges, suggesting the importance of consideration of marker vaccines in managing them. The synthetic polymers used to protect artworks from deterioration process can be colonized by the fungi and bacteria responsible for the biodeterioration process. A redox-responsive nanocarrier is a promising strategy for the intracellular drug release because it protects the payload, prevents its undesirable leakage during extracellular transport, and favors site-specific drug delivery. In this study, we developed a novel redox responsive core-shell structure nanohydrogel prepared by a water in oil nanoemulsion method using two biocompatible synthetic polymers: vinyl sulfonated poly(-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide mono/dilactate)-polyethylene glycol-poly(-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide mono/dilactate) triblock copolymer, and thiolated hyaluronic acid. Neuro-muscular disorders include a variety of diseases induced by genetic mutations resulting in muscle weakness and waste, swallowing and breathing difficulties. Objective: Keratoconus (KC) is generally described as a non-inflammatory disease, characterized by thinning in the central region of the cornea with consequent tissue degradation producing impaired visual acuity.

Materials And Methods: In our experimental study, we analyzed the presence and implications of several inflammatory cytokines in the corneal tissues of patients suffering from keratoconus by immunohistochemical analysis.

Results: The analysis showed increased levels of inflammatory factors in the pathological tissues compared to controls, confirming that KC cannot be considered an entirely non-inflammatory pathology and that its etiopathogenesis includes several chronic inflammatory events.

In this study, we demonstrated for the first time in Italy, the serological cross-reactivity between (BoHV-2) and (BoHV-1). Five months after arriving at a performance test station in Central Italy, a 6-month-old calf, which was part of a group of 57 animals, tested positive for BoHV-1 in a commercial gB-ELISA test.
