Background: JCOG1212 is a dose-finding and efficacy confirmatory study of concurrent superselective intra-arterial infusion of cisplatin and radiotherapy (RADPLAT) for locally advanced primary squamous cell carcinoma of the maxillary sinus (cT4a,bN0M0). In this study, we report the results of the final analysis of the efficacy confirmation phase for the T4a cohort with 5-year follow-up data to evaluate the late adverse events and long-term efficacy.
Methods: Based on the results of the dose-finding phase, the efficacy confirmation phase consisted of seven weekly intra-arterial infusions of cisplatin 100 mg/m combined with radiotherapy (70 Gy).
Hyalinized clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) is a rare tumor of the minor salivary gland, characterized by pale cytoplasm and EWSR1::ATF1 fusion. Recently, new fusions, such as EWSR1::LARP4 and SMARCA2::CREM, have also been identified. Histologically, HCCC closely resembles other salivary gland tumors like mucoepidermoid carcinoma and myoepithelial carcinoma, and there are no specific immunohistological markers for its identification.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study to investigate the predictive impact of the pre-treatment hematological markers neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), CRP-albumin-lymphocyte (CALLY) index, and the modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS) on overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with R/M SCCHN treated with pembrolizumab. From December 2019 to February 2022, 119 and 28 patients were treated with pembrolizumab alone and pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy, respectively.

Pathologically, the tumor cells possess a clear cytoplasm in a background of hyalinized stroma. Generally, the tumor cells are positive for p63 and p40 and negative for s100 and α-smooth muscle actin, suggesting that they differentiate into squamous epithelium and not into myoepithelium.

Reports on BCOR-CCNB3 sarcoma in the head and neck region are scarce, given their unknown etiology. An 18-year-old male patient presented a rapidly enlarging tumor extending from the right nasopharynx to the oropharynx. Histological examination showed a spindle cell sarcoma with BCOR-CCNB3 fusion detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization, and BCOR-CCNB3 was diagnosed.
