Background: A high prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies in obese subjects has been reported. Bariatric surgery is the most effective long-term treatment of morbid obesity, but this treatment can result in secondary micronutrient deficiencies. The aim of our work was to describe the micronutrient status in obese women before surgery at a university hospital.

To understand better these dopamine effect, rat tracheal smooth muscle was used as a model to evaluate the responses of beta2-, alpha1-, alpha2-adrenergic and DA1 and DA2 dopaminergic antagonists.

Material And Method: Thirty six patients were randomized in both branches: diet I with lunch and dinner substituted by two Optisource (1109,3 kcal/day, 166,4g of carbohydrates (60%), 63g of proteins (23%), 21,3g of lipids 17%) and diet II with nutritional counselling with a decrease of 500 cal/day from the previous dietary intake. Before and 3 months after treatment, a nutritional and biochemical study was performed.
Background: Studies indicate that 40-50% of hospitalized patients show malnutrition, a variable that is associated with length of stay and morbidity. The aim of our study was to detect nutritional parameters, which could have an influence on length of stay in hospitalized patients.
Material And Methods: All patients with a nutritional evaluation at hospital admission were elegible for inclusion.
Background: Dopamine exerts inhibitory and excitatory effects on different systems. In the lungs, dopamine modulates respiratory functions through carotid bodies and modulates pulmonary blood vessel tone, alveolar liquids, and bronchial exchange, and possibly participates in the regulation of airways diameter. It has been reported that dopamine has no acute effect on human airways in normal subjects or those with asthma background.

These responses result from its interaction with the dopamine receptors D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5. In addition, recent findings suggest the existence of D6 and D7 receptors.
