This work describes the design and implementation of optics for EXCLAIM, the EXperiment for Cryogenic Large-Aperture Intensity Mapping. EXCLAIM is a balloon-borne telescope that will measure integrated line emission from carbon monoxide at redshifts z < 1 and ionized carbon ([CII]) at redshifts z = 2.5 - 3.

Background: As the opioid epidemic continues, it behooves healthcare systems and practitioners to examine factors affecting access to care and treatment, as well as understand patient perceptions of opioid use disorder (OUD).

Methods: This was a cross-sectional sample of 124 patients with an OUD diagnosis identified using International Classification of Disease codes in electronic health records. Patients responded to a qualitative survey regarding self-perceptions and history of OUD, alcohol, and substance use.

Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to systematically examine and summarize recent evidence on the effects of soccer-based training (SBT) on anthropometric measures in children and adolescents with overweight/obesity.

Methods: Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis 2020 guidelines, a thorough literature search across 7 electronic databases was conducted on October 11, 2023. The studies' methodological quality was evaluated using the QualSyst tool, followed by conducting a meta-analysis with a random-effects model, and the certainty of evidence was assessed.

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), a respiratory RNA virus in the family Picornaviridae, is implicated as a potential etiological agent for acute flaccid myelitis in preteen adolescents. The absence of a specific therapeutic intervention necessitates the development of an effective animal model for EV-D68. The AG129 mouse strain, characterized by the double knockout of IFN-α/β and IFN-γ receptors on the 129 genetic background, has been proposed as a suitable model for EV-D68.

Desensitisation of the mu-opioid receptor (MOR) is proposed to underlie the initiation of opioid analgesic tolerance and previous work has shown that agonist-induced phosphorylation of the MOR C-tail contributes to this desensitisation. Moreover, phosphorylation is important for β-arrestin recruitment to the receptor, and ligands of different efficacies induce distinct phosphorylation barcodes. The C-tail TREHPSTANT motif harbours Ser/Thr residues important for these regulatory functions.

Evaluating the impact of an educational intervention on the history of racism in America for teaching structural competency to medical academicians.

Background: A challenge facing many Academic Health Centers (AHCs) attempting to revise health professions education to include the impact of racism as a social and structural determinant of health (SSDoH) is a lack of broad faculty expertise to reinforce and avoid undermining learning modules addressing this topic. To encourage an institutional culture that is in line with new anti-racism instruction, we developed a six-part educational series on the history of racism in America and its impact on contemporary health inequities for teaching structural competency to health professions academicians.

Methods: We developed a six-hour elective continuing education (CE) series for faculty and staff with the following objectives: (1) describe and discuss race as a social construct; (2) describe and discuss the decolonization of the health sciences and health care; (3) describe and discuss the history of systemic racism and structural violence from a socio-ecological perspective; and (4) describe and discuss reconciliation and repair in biomedicine.

Using the TrueLoo Smart Device to Record Toileting Sessions in Older Adults: Retrospective Validation and Acceptance Study.

Background: Because of the relationship between independent living and activities of daily living, care teams spend significant time managing assisted living residents' toileting problems. Recently, the TrueLoo was developed as a connected toilet seat to automatically log and monitor toileting sessions.

Objective: This study aimed to demonstrate the validity of the TrueLoo to (1) record and identify toileting sessions with regard to stool and urine events; (2) compare the results with the person-reported, standard-of-care methods; and (3) establish metrics of user acceptability and ease of use in a assisted living facility population.

Genetic characterization of a captive marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) colony using genotype-by-sequencing.

The marmoset is a fundamental nonhuman primate model for the study of aging, neurobiology, and many other topics. Genetic management of captive marmoset colonies is complicated by frequent chimerism in the blood and other tissues, a lack of tools to enable cost-effective, genome-wide interrogation of variation, and historic mergers and migrations of animals between colonies. An updated assessment of hepatitis delta prevalence among adults in Canada: A meta-analysis.

Foreign-born (FB) persons represent a large proportion of adults with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in Canada due to higher prevalence rates in countries of birth for FB persons. Suboptimal awareness and low rates of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) testing contribute to underdiagnosis and gaps in accurate estimates of Canada HDV prevalence. We aim to provide an assessment of CHB and HDV prevalence in Canada using a comprehensive literature review and meta-analysis.
