Placental protein 13 (PP13) exhibits a plasma concentration that increases gradually during normal gestation, a process that is disrupted in preeclampsia, which is characterized by elevated vascular resistance, reduced utero-placental blood flow, and intrauterine growth restriction. This study investigated PP13's role in vascular tone regulation and its molecular mechanisms. The aim of the present study was to identify the effect of D-(+)-glucosamine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, tetraethyleneglycol, and the mixture of these additives on the stability of oxytocin in phosphate and acetate buffer solutions, at pH 4.5. Our findings demonstrate that tetraethyleneglycol has a destabilizing effect on oxytocin in both phosphate buffer and acetate buffer.

The aim of this work was to stabilize doxycycline in mucoadhesive buccal films at room temperature (25 °C). Since doxycycline is susceptible to degradation such as oxidation and epimerization, tablets are currently the only formulation that can keep the drug fully stable at room temperature, while liquid formulations are limited to refrigerated conditions (4 °C). In this study, the aim was to make formulations containing subclinical (antibiotic) doxycycline concentration that can act as matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors (MMPI) and can be stored at temperatures such as 25 °C.

In this study, the effect of 18-crown-6 on the stability of oxytocin in aqueous solution was explored. The study found that while 12-crown-4 and 15-crown-5 do not stabilize oxytocin, 18-crown-6 does have a stabilizing effect in citrate/phosphate buffer at pH 4.5.

The variable configuration of Raman spectroscopic platforms is one of the major obstacles in establishing Raman spectroscopy as a valuable physicochemical method within real-world scenarios such as clinical diagnostics. For such real world applications like diagnostic classification, the models should ideally be usable to predict data from different setups. Whether it is done by training a rugged model with data from many setups or by a primary-replica strategy where models are developed on a 'primary' setup and the test data are generated on 'replicate' setups, this is only possible if the Raman spectra from different setups are consistent, reproducible, and comparable.

Delivery of active ingredients to the oral mucosa from topically applied formulations reduces side effects from systemic administration and enhances the treatment efficiency. The challenge however, is to maintain the formulation at the administration site due to rapid salivary flow and mechanical movements of the mouth. Galectins regulate cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, signal transduction, mRNA splicing, and interactions with the extracellular matrix. Here we focus on the galectins in the reproductive system, particularly on a group of six galectins that first appears in anthropoid primates in conjunction with the evolution of highly invasive placentation and long gestation. Introduction: Reduced concentrations of placental protein 13 (PP13) during the first trimester of human pregnancy are associated with elevated risk for the subsequent development of preeclampsia, which is one of the deadliest obstetrical complications of pregnancy. Previous studies by our group have shown that PP13 lowers blood pressure in pregnant rats, increases the size and weight of pups and placentas, and induces vasodilation of resistance arteries through endothelial signaling pathways involving endothelial nitric oxid synthase and prostaglandin.
