Next generation sequence-based targeted somatic mutation analysis in thyroid nodules with pathologically diagnosed as indeterminate cytology.

Purpose: The management of indeterminate thyroid nodules remains a topic of ongoing debate, particularly regarding the differentiation of malignancy. Somatic mutation analysis offers crucial insights into tumor characteristics. This study aimed to assist the clinical management of indeterminate nodules with somatic mutation analysis.

The Immunogenetics of Granulomatous Diseases.

Non-infectious granulomatous skin diseases are a wide category of well-defined reactive inflammatory conditions that share main similarities. While cutaneous sarcoidosis is the prototype of non-infectious (sterile) granulomatous dermatitides, there are several other entities in this group including granuloma annulare and necrobiosis lipoidica. Non-infectious granulomatous diseases are caused by complex associations between genetic situations and environmental triggers resulting in a variety of cutaneous and systemic manifestations.

Involvement of Pca1 in ROS-mediated apoptotic cell death induced by alpha-thujone in the fission yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe).

Alpha-thujone, widely used in beverages (1-5 mg/kg), is known to have cytotoxic effects, but the mode of action and the role of potential apoptotic proteins in yeast cell death should be unraveled. In this study, we used Schizosaccharomyces pombe, which is a promising unicellular model organism in mechanistic toxicology and cell biology, to investigate the involvement of pro-apoptotic factors in alpha-thujone-induced cell death. We showed alpha-thujone-induced ROS accumulation-dependent cytotoxicity and apoptosis.
