Precision prevention network: new pathway for supporting women victims of violence.

Introduction: Violence against women (VAW) is a persistent global public health problem that runs across all social classes and ethnicities with a considerable negative influence on women's health and behaviour. Early detection, appropriate interventions and multidisciplinary cooperation are crucial factors in tackling gender violence.

Objectives: This note describes "The Violence against women: long-term health effects for precision prevention" transdisciplinary and multicenter project that aims to implement the National Guidelines with two sets of questions: the European Injury Database (EU-IDB) violence module and the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) questionnaire for improving innovative approaches to limit the long-term health effect of VAW.

Determination of the optimal pH for doxorubicin encapsulation in polymeric micelles.

Hypothesis: The anticancer drug doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) shows a high solubility in aqueous media thanks to the positive charge in the ammonium group. This feature, however, affects the drug encapsulation in the hydrophobic domains of polymeric micelles (PMs) used for the targeted delivery of the drug. At basic pH, DX deprotonates but also acquires a negative charge in the phenolic groups of the anthracycline structure.

Exploring changes in children's well-being due to COVID-19 restrictions: the Italian EpaS-ISS study.

Background: While existing research has explored changes in health behaviours among adults and adolescents due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the impact of quarantine on young children's well-being is still less clear. Moreover, most of the published studies were carried out on small and non-representative samples. The aim of the EpaS-ISS study was to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the habits and behaviours of a representative sample of school children aged mainly 8-9 years and their families living in Italy, exploring the changes in children's well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the immediately preceding time period.

Changes in Food Consumption and Eating Behaviours of Children and Their Families Living in Italy during the COVID-19 Pandemic: The EPaS-ISS Study.

The aim of the EPaS-ISS study was to describe the changes in food consumption and eating behaviours of children (mainly aged 8-9 years) and their families between the pre-COVID-19 period (before February/March 2020) and the COVID-19 period (from February/March 2020 to April 2022). A web questionnaire completed by parents was used to collect data. The sociodemographic characteristics of the children and their parents were also explored through the web questionnaire.

Unveiling the Excited State Dynamics of Indole in Solution.

In this paper, we reconstruct in detail the dynamics of the emitting electronic excited state of aqueous indole, investigating its relaxation mechanism and kinetics to be related to the time-dependent fluorescence signal. Taking advantage of the results shown in a very recent paper, we were able to model the relaxation process in solution in terms of the transitions between two gas-phase singlet electronic states (L and L), subsequently irreversibly relaxing to the gas-phase singlet dark state (πσ*). A comparison of the results with the available experimental data shows that the relaxation mechanism we obtain by our theoretical-computational model is reliable, reproducing rather accurately all the experimental observables.

The impact of early surgical treatment of tracheal stenosis on neurorehabilitation outcome in patients with severe acquired brain injury.

Introduction: Acquired tracheal stenosis (TS) is a potentially life-threatening condition following prolonged intubation and/or tracheostomy in adult patients with severe Acquired Brain Injury (sABI), requiring a tracheal resection and reconstruction.

Methods: We included 38 sABI adult patients with TS, admitted at a post-acute Neurorehabilitation Hospital. Disability Rating Scale (DRS) and other functional assessment measures were recorded at admission (t), before TS surgical treatment (t), and at discharge (t).

Complexation and organization of doxorubicin on polystyrene sulfonate chains: impacts on doxorubicin dimerization and quenching.

Anthracycline doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) is a positively charged fluorescent drug, which in water self-associates into non-fluorescent antiparallel dimers upon increasing concentration and/or ionic strength. The positive charge of DX allows for complexation with negatively charged polymers and drug carriers. The fluorescence of DX following complexation with polyanion polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) is studied here.

On the Role of Water in the Formation of a Deep Eutectic Solvent Based on NiCl·6HO and Urea.

The metal-based deep eutectic solvent (MDES) formed by NiCl·6HO and urea in 1:3.5 molar ratio has been prepared for the first time and characterized from a structural point of view. Particular accent has been put on the role of water in the MDES formation, since the eutectic could not be obtained with the anhydrous form of the metal salt.

Absorption behavior of doxorubicin hydrochloride in visible region in different environments: a combined experimental and computational study.

The experimental absorption measurements in the interval 350-600 nm (Vis), molecular dynamics simulations, quantum-mechanics calculations and an advanced molecular treatment of simulation data are here combined to provide a complete picture of the absorption behavior in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum of the doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) molecule in different environments. By such an approach, we have shown that it is possible to characterize the effect of the environment on the DX absorption behavior - including the vibronic contributions - as well as to interpret such differences in terms of molecular electronic excited states, which are found to be strongly influenced by the environment.

Polarity studies of single polyelectrolyte layers in polyelectrolyte multilayers probed by steady state and life time doxorubicin fluorescence.

Hypothesis: Polarity in polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) may vary from the inner to the top layers of the film as the charge compensation of the layers is more effective inside the PEMs than in outer layers. Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) is used here to sense polarity at the single polyelectrolyte level inside PEMS.

Experimental: DX is complexed electrostatically to a polyanion, either polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) or polyacrylic acid (PAA) and assembled at selected positions in a multilayer of the polyanion and polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) as polycation.

Background: Home accidents, or domestic accidents, are accidents that occur inside a home or the adjacent areas (stairways, courtyards, gardens, attics, cellars, garages, etc.). In Italy, they are monitored through a number of surveillance systems including the PASSI system and the ISTAT (Italian Institute of Statistics) Multipurpose Survey on Households.

Background: Health authorities and organizations consider non-medical face masks as an additional passive means to prevent virus diffusion. Communication strategies disseminate information among the population that such masks are essential for mitigating virus diffusion. In the past two decades, high-amplitude electromagnetic outbursts have been detected from dormant galaxies and often attributed to the tidal disruption of a star by the central black hole. An International survey on diagnostic and prognostic protocols in patients with disorder of consciousness.

To date, no international guidelines or recommendations for diagnosis or prognosis of patients with disorders of consciousness (DoC) have been established. The International Brain Injury Association's (IBIA) Special Interest Group on Disorders of Consciousness (DoC-SIG) launched an international multicenter survey to compare diagnostic and prognostic procedures across countries and clinical settings. : To explore which specific diagnostic protocols and prognostic indices were utilized in the care for persons with DoC in different countries and to determine the usage, if any, of national guidelines in the care of such patients.

A fluorescence study of the loading and time stability of doxorubicin in sodium cholate/PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer mixed micelles.

Hypothesis: Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) is one of the most powerful anticancer agents though its clinical use is impaired by severe undesired side effects. Changes in Caregivers Lifestyle after Severe Acquired Brain Injury: A Preliminary Investigation.

Introduction: Severe acquired brain injury (sABI) is considered the most common cause of death and disability worldwide. sABI patients are supported by their caregivers who often exhibit high rates of psychological distress, mood disorders, and changes in relationship dynamics and family roles.

Objectives: To explore lifestyle changes of caregivers of sABI patients during the postacute rehabilitation, by investigating possible differences between primary and secondary caregivers.

Hitomi X-ray studies of Giant Radio Pulses from the Crab pulsar.

To search for giant X-ray pulses correlated with the giant radio pulses (GRPs) from the Crab pulsar, we performed a simultaneous observation of the Crab pulsar with the X-ray satellite Hitomi in the 2 - 300 keV band and the Kashima NICT radio observatory in the 1.4 - 1.7 GHz band with a net exposure of about 2 ks on 25 March 2016, just before the loss of the Hitomi mission.

The use of spectroscopic, scattering, imaging and computational techniques, allowed light to be shed on the self-assembly process that triggered doxorubicin gelification.

Quality of life in persons after traumatic brain injury as self-perceived and as perceived by the caregivers.

The primary aim of the study was to adopt QOLIBRI (quality of life after brain injury) questionnaire in a proxy version (Q-Pro), i.e., to use caregivers for comparison and to evaluate whether TBI patients' judgment corresponds to that of their caregivers since the possible self-awareness deficit of the persons with TBI.
