A Markovian formalization of heart rate dynamics evinces a quantum-like hypothesis.

Most investigations into heart rate dynamics have emphasized continuous functions, whereas the heart beat itself is a discrete event. We present experimental evidence that by considering this quality, the dynamics may be appreciated as a result of singular dynamics arising out of non-Lipschitz formalisms. Markov process analysis demonstrates that heart beats may then be considered in terms of quantum-like constraints.

[Subcutaneous cysticercosis].

Introduction: The case of a patient originated from Angola who presented subcutaneous and neurologic cysticercosis is reported.

Observation: The patient was referred for the etiological diagnosis of recurrent seizures. The diagnosis was made by histologic examination of a subcutaneous lesion.

To evaluate the effects of hypertension on cardiac hypertrophy, on myocardial structure, and on ventricular arrhythmias, 27 3-month-old spontaneously hypertensive rats were treated with enalapril (10 mg/kg) daily for 11 months and compared with 26 untreated control rats.
