Influence of insulin resistance on adiponectin receptor expression in breast cancer.

Objective: Adipositas and insulin resistance are modifiable risk factors for breast cancer. Adiponectin seems to be an important linkage of these associations. In this study, we investigated the relationship between intratumoral adiponectin receptor expression and insulin resistance as well as intratumoral insulin/IGF receptor expression in breast cancer specimen.

Correlation of body mass index and menopausal status with the intra-tumoral estrogen system in invasive breast cancer.

Objective: Obesity increases breast cancer risk in post-menopausal women. This is, in part, due to elevated non-glandular aromatase activity, resulting in higher estradiol serum levels. We tested the hypothesis that obesity and menopausal status influence the intra-tumoral estrogen system of breast cancer tissue.
