Background: Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) is a multifactorial disorder due to the enteric nervous system (ENS) development failure. At least 35 genes have been responsible for HSCR, including EDNRB and EDN3. Here, we aimed to determine the EDRNB and EDN3 expressions effects in HSCR subjects.

Introduction And Importance: Honey has been recorded as having healing properties at a low cost. Many studies have been conducted related to Manuka honey, but studies about Indonesian randu honey are still limited. Article Synopsis
  • Sepsis is a major cause of death in burn victims, and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) may help improve healing by creating a better wound environment.
  • A study on Yorkshire pigs tested four wound treatments: normal saline (NS), intermittent NPWT, continuous NPWT, and silver sulfadiazine, evaluating healing at multiple intervals.
  • Results showed NPWT wounds had improved appearance regarding granulation and crust formation, but no significant differences in remaining burn surface area or bacterial colonization compared to NS and silver sulfadiazine treatments.

Article Synopsis
  • The Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 has caused a rise in COVID-19 infections globally, prompting a study in Yogyakarta and Central Java, Indonesia, comparing outcomes between patients infected with Delta and non-Delta variants.
  • The study analyzed 161 patients, revealing that those with the Delta variant were significantly younger on average (27.3 years) compared to those with non-Delta (43.0 years) and had lower cycle threshold (Ct) values, indicating higher viral loads.
  • While hospitalization and mortality rates were similar for both variants, factors such as age ≥65, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension were linked to higher mortality among COVID-19 patients.

Background: The growth of children with Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) can be affected by many factors, including the environment, nutrient intake, and surgery. Our study compared the long-term ( at least 3 years of follow-up) growth outcomes in HSCR children after transabdominal Soave and Duhamel and transanal endorectal pull-through (TEPT) surgeries.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in children <18 years of age diagnosed histopathologically with HSCR who underwent pull-through between January 1, 2012-December 31, 2015 in our institution.
