Tubeless Pediatric Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: Assessment of Feasibility and Safety.

Introduction: Tubeless pediatric percutaneous nephrolithotomy (TL-PCNL) is evolving and adult criteria are being safely applied to children. We examine the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of pediatric TL.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of pediatric (≤18 years) PCNL patients at our institute was done.

Anatrophic Nephrolithotomy in the Management of Large Staghorn Calculi - A Single Centre Experience.

Introduction: With advances in endourology, open stone surgery for staghorn calculi has markedly diminished. Anatrophic Nephrolithotomy (AN) is performed for complex staghorn stones which cannot be cleared by a reasonable number of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PNL) attempts.

Aim: To assess the indications and outcomes of AN in the modern era.

The size of external urethral meatus on maximum stretch in Indian adult males.

Size of the external urethral meatus in adult Indian males is not yet documented. However, for choosing optimum size of an instrument, it is important to know the maximum stretchable external urethral meatal size in a particular patient. Hence, a prospective study was conducted at our institution to document the maximum stretchable adult male external urethral meatus size.

Modified technique of percutaneous cystolithotripsy using a new instrument--combined single-step trocar-dilator with self-retaining adjustable access sheath.

Objectives: To evaluate a new instrument and technique for access that overcomes the difficulties with percutaneous cystolithotripsy (PCCL). PCCL is a safe and established minimally invasive surgical option for large vesical calculi. It is commonly performed using a guidewire, serial dilation, and an Amplatz sheath.

Emphysematous pyelonephritis: tertiary care center experience in management and review of the literature.

Introduction: In recent years there have been changes in management modality and a lower mortality with conservative management. We analyzed the result of emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) management by a review of the literature.

Material And Methods: We made a retrospective study for the period from August 2005 to July 2009.

Refractory post visual internal urethrotomy bleeding managed by angioembolization.

Post visual internal urethrotomy (VIU) bleeding is usually treated successfully with local compression. Angioembolization for post VIU bleeding has not been previously reported to the best of our knowledge. This is a case report of a 55-year-old man who was referred with persistent per urethral bleeding around a Foley catheter, three days following VIU.

Age, gender, and voided volume dependency of peak urinary flow rate and uroflowmetry nomogram in the Indian population.

Objectives : The objective of this study was measurement of urine flow parameters by a non invasive urodynamic test. Variation of flow rates based on voided volume, age, and gender are described. Different nomograms are available for different populations and racial differences of urethral physiology are described.

Congenital urethrovaginal fistula with imperforate hymen: a first case report.

Background: Congenital urethrovaginal fistulas are rare, and all five reported cases have been associated with urogenital abnormalities. We describe a case of congenital urethrovaginal fistula with an imperforate hymen and no other urogenital abnormalities.

Case: A 25-year-old female sought medical advice regarding cyclical hematuria, dyspareunia, and infertility of four years' duration.

Malakoplakia of the ureter: An unusual case.

Malakoplakia of the ureter is a rare pathological entity. We discuss a 15-year-old girl with malakoplakia of the ureter. She presented with obstructive uropathy associated with left flank pain.

Robotic surgery: India is not ready yet.

Robotic surgery is one of the most significant advances in urology in recent years. It promises to make urological surgeries safer with far superior results as compared to laparoscopic or open surgeries. It holds great promise for the surgeons and patients alike.

An unusual complication of silver nitrate therapy for chyluria.

Chyluria is a common disorder in the tropics. In our country it is most commonly managed by instillation of silver nitrate. We report a patient who developed severe perinephric hematoma due to pseudoaneurysm of renal artery following silver nitrate instillation.
