Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat a lesion through light irradiation and consequent temperature increase. Magnetic resonance thermometry imaging (MRTI) provides a multidimensional measurement of the temperature inside the target, thus enabling accurate monitoring of the damaged zone during the procedure. Hepatic fibrosis causes an increase in liver stiffness, a parameter measured by elastography and widely used as a diagnosis method. The concomitant presence of portal vein thrombosis (PVT) implies a change in hepatic portal inflow that could also affect liver elasticity. Using the dual-process model of assimilative-tenacity (TGP) and accommodative-flexibility (FGA), the study aims to identify trajectories of TGP and FGA over five time points within a 9-year period, explore the relationships between the trajectories of TGP and FGA, and explore if participants from distinct TGP and FGA trajectories differed in indicators of well-being and depression. Latent class growth analysis was used in a five-wave longitudinal design among an older population of 747 participants over 65 years. Results highlight (1) emergence of four trajectories for flexibility (low and increasing, moderate and increasing, moderately high and stable, and high and stable trajectories) and three trajectories for tenacity (low and stable, moderate and stable, and high and decreasing trajectories), (2) that older people belonging to particular trajectories of FGA are not more likely to belong to particular trajectories of TGP, and (3) that participants from the high and decreasing TGP and high or moderately high and stable FGA trajectories were characterized by high score of perceived health, satisfaction with life, and self-esteem and low score of depression moods.

Background/study Context: The study compared the learning performance of younger and older adults in situations differing in the number of cues that could be relied on for predicting the value of a criterion. Two hypotheses were tested: one based on the assumption that the greater the inhibition effort needed in the task, the greater the difference between younger and older participants, and the other based on the fact that the context in which inhibition occurs plays a role, and consequently that the level of difficulty of the four learning conditions can be better predicted from the number of possible sets of valid cues.

Quantitative NMRI and (31)P NMRS indices are reported in the forearms of 24 patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) (6-18 years, 14 non-ambulant) amenable to exon 53 skipping therapy and in 12 age-matched male controls (CONT). Examinations carried out at 3 T comprised multi-slice 17-echo measurements of muscle water T2 and heterogeneity, three-point Dixon imaging of fat fraction in flexor and extensor muscles (FLEX, EXT), and non-localised spectroscopy of phosphate metabolites. Indocyanine green (ICG) is a water-soluble anionic tricarbocyanine dye developed during the Second World War that was first approved for clinical use in humans in 1956. The main features of ICG that make it suitable for bioimaging applications are its near infrared absorption and its fluorescence. Although ICG is mainly used for its fluorescence emission properties, it has also been hypothesized that it can serve as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy applications, eliciting cytotoxic effects both in vitro and in vivo when used in combination with light at wavelengths in the region of 800-830 nm.
