Background: Concurrent (STK11, KL) mutant non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) do not respond well to current immune checkpoint blockade therapies, however targeting major histocompatibility complex class I-related chain A or B (MICA/B), could pose an alternative therapeutic strategy through activation of natural killer (NK) cells.

Methods: Expression of NK cell activating ligands in NSCLC cell line and patient data were analyzed. Cell surface expression of MICA/B in NSCLC cell lines was determined through flow cytometry while ligand shedding in both patient blood and cell lines was determined through ELISA.

Agroecology largely focusses on terrestrial agroecosystems, but it can also be applied to fish farming. Indeed, ponds are typically used for fish production in Europe, but are also important reservoirs of biodiversity. The transcription factor achaete-scute complexhomolog 1 (ASCL1) is a lineage oncogene that is central in growth and survival of the majority of small cell lung cancers and neuroendocrine (NE) non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) that express it. Targeting ASCL1, or its downstream pathways, remains a challenge. Small cell lung cancers and NSCLC-NE that express ASCL1 exhibit relatively low ERK1/2 activity, in dramatic contrast to NSCLCs in which the ERK pathway plays a major role in pathogenesis.

Diagnostic markers are desperately needed for the early detection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA). We describe sets of markers expressed in temporal order in mouse models during pancreatitis, PDA initiation and progression. Cell type specificity and the differential expression of PDA markers were identified by screening single cell (sc) RNAseq from tumor samples of a mouse model for PDA (KIC) at early and late stages of PDA progression compared to that of a normal pancreas.

Background: The only disease-modifying treatment currently available for allergic rhinitis (AR) is allergen immunotherapy (AIT). The main objective of the EfficAPSI real-world study (RWS) was to evaluate the impact of liquid sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT-liquid) on asthma onset and evolution in AR patients.

Methods: An analysis with propensity score weighting was performed using the EfficAPSI cohort, comparing patients dispensed SLIT-liquid with patients dispensed AR symptomatic medication with no history of AIT (controls).

Pathways for Diagnosing and Treating CKD-Associated Pruritus: A Narrative Review.

Purpose Of Review: Chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated pruritus is a common, persistent, and distressing itch experienced by patients across the CKD spectrum. Although the disorder is associated with adverse outcomes and poor health-related quality of life, it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. The purpose of this narrative review is to offer health care providers guidance on how to effectively identify, assess, and treat patients with CKD-associated pruritus, with the goal of reducing symptom burden and improving patient-important outcomes, such as quality of life (QoL).

Toward Distinguishing between the Superchaotropic and Hydrophobic Characters of Nanometric-Sized Ions in Interaction with PEGylated Surfaces.

In this study, we explore the superchaotropic effect of various polyoxometalate or boron cluster nano-ions on hydrophilic neutral surfaces. Nano-ions, characterized by low charge densities, exhibit strong adsorption on non-ionic hydrophilic surfaces like PEGylated micelles. This adsorption phenomenon was attributed to the enthalpically favorable dehydration of nano-ions, the so-called superchaotropic effect.

Role of upfront autologous transplant for peripheral T-cell lymphoma patients achieving a complete remission with first-line therapy: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

There is currently no consensus on the role of upfront autologous transplantation (ASCT) for patients with peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL), especially in patients achieving first complete remission (CR1) following chemotherapy, and data in the literature is conflicting. A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to address this question. We searched key databases from January 2000 to February 2022.

Background: While it is increasingly acknowledged that conduct problems and peer problems often co-occur in development, less is known about the ways in which peer problems may alter the developmental course of conduct problems for distinct subgroups.

Methods: Using data from a large population-based study in Norway (the Bergen Child Study/youth@hordaland; 47.4% males), we estimated group-based trajectories of conduct problems and the presence of time-varying peer problems on the developmental progression of conduct problems between seven and 19 years of age.

This transformation is nearly inevitable in patients but has been difficult to capture in laboratory models. Here, we present a preclinical system that recapitulates acquired cross-resistance, developed from 51 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models.
