Inguinal hernias are rare in female infants, and when present, there is an increased incidence of androgen insensitivity in these infants. We present a case of bilateral inguinal hernias in a 26-day-old full-term phenotypic female. On physical exam, the patient was found to have bilateral palpable inguinal masses which were suspected to be testicular tissue on ultrasound.

Objective: To assess the use of a portable retinal camera in diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening in multiple settings and the presence of associated risk factors among children, adolescents, and young adults with type 1 diabetes.

Design And Methods: Five hundred youth with type 1 diabetes of at least 1 year's duration were recruited from clinics, diabetes camp, and a diabetes conference and underwent retinal imaging using a nonmydriatic fundus camera. Retinal characterization was performed remotely by a licensed ophthalmologist.

Methods: Given the need for data in Puerto Rico, this cross-sectional study aimed to determine the association between demographic, lifestyles, and reproductive characteristics and the metabolic syndrome among a sample of women (N = 564) in the San Juan Metropolitan Area. The metabolic syndrome was defined based on the revised National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP ATP III) criteria.
