Aims: To evaluate glucose metrics, device satisfaction and diabetes impact in adults with type 1 diabetes using different treatment modalities in a real-life setting in Italy.
Methods: This was a multicentre, nationwide, cross-sectional study. Candidates were consecutively evaluated for eligibility during their routine medical visit at the diabetes centre.
Aims: To compare the efficacy and safety of different hybrid closed loop (HCL) systems in people with diabetes through a network meta-analysis.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL and PubMed for randomised clinical trials (RCTs) enrolling children, adolescents and/or adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, evaluating Minimed 670G, Minimed 780G, Control-IQ, CamAPS Fx, DBLG-1, DBLHU, and Omnipod 5 HCL systems against other types of insulin therapy, and reporting time in target range (TIR) as outcome.
Results: A total of 28 RCTs, all enrolling people with type 1 diabetes, were included.
Purpose: Randomized controlled trials with tirzepatide (TZP) displayed unprecedented glucose and body weight lowering efficacy in individuals with type 2 diabetes and/or obesity and a safety profile similar to that of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA), mainly characterized by gastrointestinal (GI) adverse events (AE). Concerns on diabetic retinopathy, pancreato-biliary disorders, and medullary thyroid cancer were also addressed. We aimed to investigate whether the same safety issues emerged from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) post-marketing surveillance database.

We experimentally demonstrate that partly distinguishable single photons can be purified to reach near-unity indistinguishability by the process of quantum interference with ancillary photons followed by heralded detection of a subset of them. We report on the indistinguishability of the purified photons by interfering two purified photons and show improvements in the photon indistinguishability of 2.

To date, PPGLs are no longer classified as benign and malignant tumors since any lesion could theoretically metastasize, even if it occurs only in a minority of cases (approximately 10-30%). Over the last decades, several attempts were made to develop a scoring system able to predict the risk of aggressive behavior at diagnosis, including the risk of metastases and disease recurrence; unfortunately, none of the available scores is able to accurately predict the risk of aggressive behavior, even including clinical, biochemical, and histopathological features.

These tests provide critical insights into lung health, guiding diagnoses, assessing disease severity, and shaping patient management strategies. This review addresses the complexities and nuances inherent in interpreting PFT data, particularly in light of recent updates from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and American Thoracic Society (ATS).

Materials And Methods: HCRU data for cost calculations were collected by treating physicians during patient interviews at baseline and follow-up visits approximately 6, 12, 18, and 24 months after GLP-1 RA initiation with once-weekly dulaglutide or once-daily liraglutide. Costs were evaluated from the national healthcare system (third-party payer) perspective and updated to 2018 prices.
Background: Increasing evidence suggests that diabetes increases the risk of developing different types of cancer. Hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia and chronic inflammation, characteristic of diabetes, could represent possible mechanisms involved in cancer development in diabetic patients. At the same time, cancer increases the risk of developing new-onset diabetes, mainly caused by the use of specific anticancer therapies.

The discovery of late myocardial enhancement following intravenous contrast administration dates back to the 1970s with ex-vivo CT animal investigations; nevertheless, the clinical application of this phenomenon for cardiac tissue characterization became prevalent for CMR imaging far earlier than for CCT imaging. Recently the technical advances in CT scanners have made it possible to take advantage of late contrast enhancement (LCE) for tissue characterization in CCT exams.

Objective: Based on these differences, we are interested in deepening whether these obesity phenotypes could be linked to changes in microbiota and metabolome profiles. In this respect, the overt role of microbiota taxa composition and relative metabolic profiles is not completely understood.
Aims: To assess the cost-utility of the FreeStyle Libre flash continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system from an Italian healthcare system perspective, when compared with self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in people living with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) receiving basal insulin.
Materials And Methods: A patient-level microsimulation model was run using Microsoft Excel for 10 000 patients over a lifetime horizon, with 3.0% discounting for costs and utilities.
Background And Aims: Cholemic nephropathy is a cause of acute kidney injury occurring in patients with jaundice. The aim of this study was to evaluate early renal function impairment in patients with mild acute hyperbilirubinemia in the absence of alterations of the common parameters used in clinical practice (serum creatinine or urea) and with normal renal morphology. We studied urinary biomarkers of tubular damage urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (u-NGAL), urinary beta-2-microglobulin (u-B2M), urinary osteopontin (u-OPN), urinary trefoil factor 3 (u-TFF3) and urinary Cystatin C (u-Cys).

The previous literature on the topic presents great heterogeneity, focusing especially on computed tomography imaging. The aim of the present study is to determine whether an increased volume of left atrial (LA) EAT evaluated at routine pre-procedural cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) relates to AF recurrences after catheter ablation.

Most commonly, the polarization or spatial location of single photons are used as addressable degrees of freedom for turning these applications into praxis. However, the scale-up for the processing of a large number of photons of these architectures is very resource-demanding due to the rapidly increasing number of components, such as optical elements, photon sources, and detectors.

Despite the introduction of therapeutic interventions with demonstrated efficacy to prevent the development or progression of these common chronic diseases, many individuals have limited access to these innovations due to their race/ethnicity, and/or socioeconomic status (SES). However, practical guidance to providers and healthcare systems for addressing these disparities is often lacking.

These applications exploit measurement-based quantum computation using cluster states. Remarkably, it was shown that photonic cluster states of arbitrary size can be generated by using feasible heralded linear optics fusion gates that act on heralded three-photon Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states as the initial resource state.

Research Design And Methods: Participant subgroups with low FSG/low PPG, low FSG/high PPG, high FSG/low PPG, and high FSG/high PPG were defined according to the median values of these measures.
Results: All tirzepatide doses and basal insulins were associated with decreased HbA1c, FSG, and PPG values from baseline to week 52 in all subgroups (P < 0.
The rising phenomenon of obesity, a major risk factor for the development and progression of type 2 diabetes, is a complex and multifaceted issue that requires a comprehensive and coordinated approach to be prevented and managed. Although novel pharmacological measures to combat obesity have achieved unprecedented efficacy, a healthy lifestyle remains essential for the long-term success of any therapeutic intervention. However, this requires a high level of intrinsic motivation and continued behavioural changes in the face of multiple metabolic, psychological and environmental factors promoting weight gain, particularly in the context of type 2 diabetes.
