Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have revolutionized the therapeutic scenario of heart failure, demonstrating favorable effects on mortality and quality of life. Previous studies have yielded conflicting data regarding the effects on ventricular arrhythmias.
Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted to investigate the anti-arrhythmic properties of SGLT2 inhibitors evaluating the intra-patient difference in major adverse arrhythmic cardiac events (MAACE) over a six-month period in patients with chronic heart failure who were undergoing continuous monitoring using a cardiac implantable electronic device.
Objectives: Clinical trials that are terminated prematurely may generate incomplete and potentially biased data and the reasons for premature trials termination are poorly understood. Our objective was to describe the incidence of premature trial termination and identify factors associated with it.
Methods: We performed a systematic search on ClinicalTrials.
Several different signaling pathways that regulate cell proliferation and differentiation are initiated by binding of ligands to cell-surface and membrane-bound enzyme-linked receptors, such as receptor tyrosine kinases and serine-threonine kinases. They prompt phosphorylation of tyrosine and serine-threonine residues and initiate downstream signaling pathways and priming of intracellular molecules that convey the signal in the cytoplasm and nucleus, with transcriptional activation of specific genes enriching cell growth and survival-related cascades. These cell processes are rhythmically driven by molecular clockworks endowed in every cell type and when deregulated play a crucial role in cancer onset and progression.
