Electrification of public buses in Jakarta, Indonesia: A life cycle study.

Indonesia plans to mitigate the environmental emissions, particularly the carbon emissions, from the transport by replacing conventional buses with battery electric buses (BEBs). However, there are limited studies on the potential environmental benefits of BEBs and mostly focused on carbon emissions. In this study, the environmental impacts of adopting BEBs in Jakarta's public transportation system were examined using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to better understand its potential environmental impacts.

Introduction: High users of hospital services require targeted healthcare services planning for effective resource allocation due to their high costs. This study aims to segmentize the population in the "Ageing In Place-Community Care Team" (AIP-CCT), a programme for complex patients with high inpatient service use, and examine the association of segment membership and healthcare utilisation and mortality.

Methods: We analysed 1,012 patients enrolled between June 2016 and February 2017.

Introduction: Falls are an important public health issue with consequences that include injuries, quality of life reduction and high healthcare costs. Hydrogels are hydrophilic polymer materials that can swell but are insoluble in water. Hydrogels can be synthesized with synthetic or natural polymers, but natural polymers are preferred because they are similar to natural tissues, which can absorb a high water content, are biocompatible, and are biodegradable. The three-dimensional structure of the hydrogel affects its water insolubility and ability to maintain its shape.

Background: Frailty is increasing in prevalence internationally with population ageing. Frailty can be managed or even reversed through community-based interventions delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, but to varying degrees of success. Early Implementation of a Patient-Centered Medical Home in Singapore: A Qualitative Study Using Theory on Diffusion of Innovations.

Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) has been found to improve care for complex needs patients in some countries but has not yet been widely adopted in Singapore. This study explored the ground-up implementation of a PCMH in Singapore by describing change strategies and unpacking initial experience and perception. In-depth interviews were conducted for twenty-two key informants from three groups: the implementers, their implementation partners, and other providers.

Impact of a patient-centered medical home demonstration on quality of life and patient activation for older adults with complex needs in Singapore.

Background: The first Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) demonstration in Singapore was launched in November 2016, which aimed to deliver integrated and patient-centered care for patients with bio-psycho-social needs. Implementation was guided by principles of comprehensiveness, coordinated care, shared decision-making, accessible services, and quality and safety. We aimed to investigate the impact of implementing the PCMH in primary care on quality of life (QoL) and patient activation.

Enablers and Barriers of a Cross-Cultural Geriatric Education Distance Training Programme: The Singapore-Uganda Experience.

Background: By 2050, 80% of the world's older population will reside in developing countries. There is a need for culturally appropriate training programs to increase awareness of eldercare issues, promote knowledge of how to better allocate resources to geriatric services, and promulgate elder-friendly policies. A monthly distance geriatric education programme between a public hospital in Singapore and health institute in Uganda was implemented.

The development and validation of a prototype mobility tracker for assessing the life space mobility and activity participation of older adults.

Background: There is increasing interest in examining the life space mobility and activity participation of older adults in the community using sensor technology. Objective data from these technologies may overcome the limitations of self-reported surveys especially in older adults with age-associated cognitive impairment. This paper describes the development and validation of a prototype hybrid mobility tracker for assessing life space mobility and out-of-home activities amongst 33 community-ambulant older adults in Singapore.

Background: HIV infection in pregnancy is a big concern for the future of our nation. The virus can be transmitted to the baby through pregnancy, childbirth and during breastfeeding which rendering to early detection and intervention. The aim of this study was to describe the transmission prevention cascade among our patient.

Preparation of In Situ Cross-Linked N-Maleoyl Chitosan-Oxidized Sodium Alginate Hydrogels for Drug Delivery Applications.

Aim: This study was aimed to prepare in situ cross-linked N-maleoyl chitosan - oxidised sodium alginate (MCS - OSA) hydrogel loaded with metronidazole (MTZ) for drug delivery applications.

Methods: The hydrogel was prepared by in situ cross-linking via Schiff base reaction between amine (-NH2) groups from MCS and aldehyde (-CHO) groups from OSA at the different ratio, and the MTZ was loaded into the hydrogels along with the gelatin processes.

Results: The highest drug entrapment efficiency (DEE) was exhibited by MTZ-H3 (5: 5) with DEE of 99.

Self-healable PAA/PPy-Fe composite hydrogels have been simply synthesized in one step and utilized for antibacterial and electrical conductivity application. The network of hydrogel is composed of polyacrylic acid (PAA) and Fe ions with interlacing of the second polymeric chain of polypyrrole (PPy).
