Background And Purpose: Endocannabinoids are lipid mediators, which elicit complex biological effects that extend beyond the central nervous system. Tissue concentrations of endocannabinoids increase in atherosclerosis, and for the endocannabinoid N-arachidonoyl-ethanolamine (anandamide, AEA), this has been linked to an anti-inflammatory function. In this study, we set out to determine the anti-inflammatory mechanism of action of AEA, specifically focusing on vascular smooth muscle cells.

Methods: a scoping review, conducted according to the JBI model and the PRISMA-ScR checklist. The search was carried out in the CINAHL, Embase, LILACS, PubMed, Web of Science, SciELO, Scopus and Cochrane Library databases.
We report the chemical composition of the crude leaf extracts obtained from (Cham.) Miers (Bignoniaceae), a simple high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method based on mangiferin as an internal standard to quantify verbascoside, and the verbascoside acute oral toxicity and antileishmanial activity. HPLC-high-resolution mass spectrometry-DAD (HPLC-HRMS-DAD) analyses of the crude ethanol leaf extracts (CE-1 and CE-2) revealed that verbascoside was the major constituent in both extracts.

Thus, there is a general interest in developing computational tools to classify electroencephalographic (EEG) signals in alcoholism, but there are a limited number of studies on convolutional neural network (CNN) classification of alcoholism using topographic EEG signals. We produced an original dataset recorded from Brazilian subjects performing a language recognition task.

Methods: Observational, descriptive, and cross-secctional study, carried out in pediatric patients attended in the Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud, and patients from public hospitals with clinical suspicion of LAD were studied. The molecules CD18 and CD15 in peripheral blood leukocytes was evaluated by flow cytometry, establishing a normal range in healthy patients.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to validate the PenRed Monte Carlo framework for clinical applications in brachytherapy. PenRed is a C++ version of Penelope Monte Carlo code with additional tallies and utilities.
Methods And Materials: Six benchmarking scenarios are explored to validate the use of PenRed and its improved bachytherapy-oriented capabilities for HDR brachytherapy.

Contamination with Arsenic, a toxic metalloid, is increasing in the marine environment. Additionally, global warming can alter metalloids toxicity. Polychaetes are key species in marine environments.

In this regard, nanotechnology applied to the development of pharmacotherapeutic nanoformulations has become an attractive tool that allows taking advantage of the beneficial properties of multiple drugs while minimizing or avoiding their undesirable side effects. Nanotechnology is a relatively recent scientific field that involves the study, manipulation, development, and characterization of drug delivery systems at the nanoscale (1 to 1000 nm; 1 nm= 1x10-9 m).

Major and trace elements are commonly present in sediment and may be accumulated by polychaetes such as the tubiculous . In this study, individuals were collected in the autumn, winter, spring, and summer of 2018/2019 from the Ria de Aveiro lagoon (western Portugal) to understand how seasonality influences element accumulation.

In CD, activation of the immune response causes damage of the intestinal mucosa, and a gluten-free diet (GFD) is the only available therapy. Intestinal damage can lead to an increase in the circulation of components of bacteria from the intestinal lumen, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

In addition to MYC translocations, different secondary genetic abnormalities have been described, some of them with prognostic significance. However, dual translocations of chromosome 14, except those involving chromosome 18, are very rare events in this pathology.

Vitamin D is an important modulator of the immune system. Although serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels can be raised through diet or supplements, most vitamin D in the body is the result of dermal synthesis from ultraviolet radiation.

Its inheritance patterns are linked to the X chromosome (X-linked CGD) and autosomal recessive (AR CGD). The dihydrorhodamine (DHR) assay is used for the diagnosis and detection of carriers and provides information on inheritance patterns.

In this regard, the deficiency of vitamin D seems to increase the risk of cardiovascular pathologies related to neuroinflammation. Long-term lack of vitamin D leads to over-activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), one of the essential mechanisms of blood pressure regulation.

Simulations performed on the widely used NE-2571 ionization chamber have been used to benchmark the results. The Monte Carlo code PENELOPE/penEasy was used to calculate the absorbed dose to a point in water and the absorbed dose to the active air volume of the chambers for photon beams in the range 4 to 24 MV.

The main advantage of this approach is that it allows the analyst to account for cross-country heterogeneity. Using data on GDP, environmental pressures and inputs, the change in environmental productivity and its determinants between the years 2001 and 2016 is assessed in several scenarios; heterogeneity is accounted for by differentiating between the members of the former European Union-15 (EU-15) and the new members that joined the EU-28 from the 2000s onwards.

However, the search for new alternatives for the treatment and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases does not take into account this relationship, so their evaluation results and the advantages offered by their global and integrative analysis are wasted. For example, a variety of receptors that are overexpressed in both pathologies is large enough to allow expansion in the search for new molecular targets and ligands.

Considering that part of the sewage water is dumped into rivers and seas, this is the major source of contamination of the aquatic environment. Paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid are among the most worldwide consumed pharmaceutical drugs, frequently found in wastewater discharges and consequently in the aquatic environment in considerable amounts, posing ecotoxicity concerns especially towards aquatic non-target species.

The objective of this article is to discuss the impact of healthcare financing systems on the efficiency of Mexican hospitals. The Mexican healthcare system is undergoing a process of transformation to establish conditions for allocating limited health resources in order to achieve efficiency and transparency; in this line, there is a concern about the implications of different funding options. In terms of financing arrangements, the Mexican health system is divided into three categories (one private and two public).
