Peanut () and its wild relatives are among the few species that naturally synthesize resveratrol, a well-known stilbenoid phytoalexin that plays a crucial role in plant defense against biotic and abiotic stresses. Resveratrol has received considerable attention due to its health benefits, such as preventing and treating various human diseases and disorders. Chalcone (CHS) and Stilbene (STS) Synthases are plant-specific type III Polyketide Synthases (PKSs) that share the same substrates and are key branch enzymes in the biosynthesis of flavonoids and stilbenoids, respectively.

Validation of the BLOC test: A computerized oral line bisection task in French healthy participants.

Line bisection is one of the most commonly used tasks to assess spatial neglect. More recently, line bisection has been recommended as a task to monitor for spatial neglect during awake brain tumor surgery, but the operative constraints hamper the normal test conditions. We developed and validated in 118 healthy participants the BLOC test, a computerized version of line bisection, suppressing the motor component, in both sitting and lying positions.

This study aimed to develop a multiparticulate system based on sodium alginate/gellan gum polymers for morin controlled release using standardized spray-dryer parameters. A 2 experimental factorial design was used to standardize spray-dryer parameters. After standardization, three systems with three different proportions of the natural polymers (50:50, 25:75, 75:25; sodium alginate: gellan gum) with and without morin (control) were developed.

The sol-gel route was used to synthesize a biophenolic resin from a blend of Kraft black liquor and condensed tannin. The biobased resin has an amorphous structure and diversified surface functional groups. The biomaterial thermal stability was improved by Kraft black liquor, which increased the fixed carbon yield by 19.

Modeling the influence of motor skills on literacy in third grade: Contributions of executive functions and handwriting.

Several nonlanguage factors influence literacy development, and motor skills are among those most studied. Despite the publication of several studies that have supported the existence of this relationship, the type of influence and underlying mechanisms have been little explored. Herein, we propose modeling the relationship between motor skills and literacy through structural equation modeling, testing the contribution of executive functions and handwriting skills as the possible mediators of this relationship.

Different formulations of vancomycin: In vitro antimicrobial activity against clinical isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

We compared in vitro antimicrobial activity of four vancomycin formulations used clinically against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, including methicillin-resistant and -susceptible (MRSA and MSSA, respectively), using different susceptibility assays. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) against MRSA clinical isolates were significantly different for some vancomycin formulations by the broth microdilution and agar dilution methods. However, these variations would not compromise their clinical use, since the MICs were within the range recommended by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute.

Bioadsorption of trivalent and hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions by sericin-alginate particles produced from Bombyx mori cocoons.

In this study, particles produced from sericin-alginate blend were used as non-conventional bioadsorbent for removing Cr(III) and Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions.
