Background: Compliance with the recommended 30 s drying time of alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) is often suboptimal. To increase hand hygiene compliance at a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), we installed an Incubator Traffic Light (ITL) system which shows 'green light' to open incubator doors after the recommended drying time.

Aim: To measure the impact of this visual feedback system on NICU healthcare professionals' compliance with the recommended ABHR drying time.

The prevalence of childhood obesity has increased significantly worldwide, highlighting a need for accurate noninvasive quantification of body fat distribution in children. The purpose of this study was to develop and test an automated deep learning method for subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) segmentation using Dixon MRI acquisitions in adolescents. This study was embedded within the Generation R Study, a prospective population-based cohort study in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Background: Involved lateral lymph nodes (LLNs) have been associated with increased local recurrence (LR) and ipsi-lateral LR (LLR) rates. However, consensus regarding the indication and type of surgical treatment for suspicious LLNs is lacking. This study evaluated the surgical treatment of LLNs in an untrained setting at a national level.

Introduction: Growth monitoring of preterm infants is essential for assessing the nutritional effects on their growth. The current growth monitoring techniques are too stressful, however, for the smallest preterm infants. We performed a systematic review to summarize studies on stress-free techniques for measuring the body size of preterm infants inside incubators other than the traditional calliper and tape measure-based instruments.

Metastatic mesenteric masses of small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are known to often cause intestinal complications. The aim of this study was to identify patients at risk to develop these complications based on routinely acquired CT scans using a standardized set of clinical criteria and radiomics. Retrospectively, CT scans of SI-NET patients with a mesenteric mass were included and systematically evaluated by five clinicians.

During the last 20 years, our group has focused on identifying the genes and mutations causative of inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs). By applying massive sequencing approaches (NGS) in more than 500 familial and sporadic cases, we attained high diagnostic efficiency (85%) with a custom target gene panel and over 75% using whole exome sequencing (WES). Close to 40% of pathogenic alleles are novel mutations, which demand specific in silico tests and in vitro assays.

Speaking up and confronting co-workers when they behave undesirably is important for the well-being of the personnel and organizational performance. In some organizations, a culture of silence prevails, however. Although a number of organizational environments are particularly receptive to employee voice, others are less open to voice behavior, which gives rise to a risk of undesirable behavior.

In this work, we present an extensive characterization of plasma-assisted atomic-layer-deposited SnO layers, with the aim of identifying key material properties of SnO to serve as an efficient electron transport layer in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Electrically resistive SnO films are fabricated at 50 °C, while a SnO film with a low electrical resistivity of 1.8 × 10 Ω cm, a carrier density of 9.

Background: Physicians need a simple, disease-specific tool with which to assess disease severity and the effect of therapeutic intervention in patients with chronic hand eczema. The currently available clinical scoring systems include numerous items, which makes them laborious to complete and limit their use in daily practice.

Objective: To develop a simple tool with which to assess disease severity of patients with chronic hand eczema.

Background: Hand dermatitis has a large impact on society as a whole.

Objectives: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of integrated, multidisciplinary care as compared with usual care (UC) for patients with moderate to severe chronic hand dermatitis after 52 weeks.

Methods: Patients (n = 196) visiting the dermatology department at one of the participating hospitals for hand dermatitis were randomized to integrated care (IC) or UC.

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of integrated, multidisciplinary care as compared with usual care for patients with moderate to severe, chronic hand eczema after 26 weeks of follow-up.

Background: This study was designed as a randomized, controlled trial.

Methods: Patients who visited one of the participating hospitals were randomized to integrated care or usual care.

Unlabelled: BACKGROUND. Over the last decade, few randomized controlled trials of high methodological quality have been carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for patients with hand eczema. Little to no attention has been paid to the feasibility of these interventions.

Hand dermatitis is a prevalent disease with an episodic, chronic character. The use of medical resources is high and is often related to reduced (work) functioning. The burden is therefore high for patients and society.

Background: The individual and societal burden of hand eczema is high. Literature indicates that moderate to severe hand eczema is a disease with a poor prognosis. Many patients are hampered in their daily activities, including work.
