With evidence that salpingectomy is effective in preventing high grade serous carcinoma, it is time to consider offering this procedure to people at higher-than-average lifetime risk for ovarian cancer, despite not having a pathogenic genetic variant that increases risk for ovarian cancer. This targeted approach has potential to be effective at reducing ovarian cancer incidence, and unlike opportunistic salpingectomy is focused on people with an increased lifetime risk of ovarian cancer. However, the acceptability of this approach within the population of potential patients remains unknown.

Methods: We investigated the associations between tea and coffee consumption before diagnosis and survival using data from 10 studies in the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium.
Objectives: There is an active debate regarding whether metformin use improves survival in people with ovarian cancer. We examined this issue using methods designed to avoid immortal time bias-as bias that occurs when participants in a study cannot experience the outcome for a certain portion of the study time.
Methods: We used time-dependent analyses to study the association between metformin use for all 4,951 patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997 through 2018 in the province of British Columbia, Canada.
Over the last two decades, patient engagement in cancer research has evolved significantly, especially in addressing the unique challenges faced by adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer populations. This paper introduces a framework for meaningful engagement with AYA cancer patient research partners, drawing insights from the "FUTURE" Study, a qualitative study that utilizes focus groups to explore the impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment on the sexual and reproductive health of AYA cancer patients in Canada. The framework's development integrates insights from prior works and addresses challenges with patient engagement in research specific to AYA cancer populations.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was completed of persons undergoing surgical management for pelvic pain between December 2013 and July 2016 at an interdisciplinary tertiary referral centre for pelvic pain and endometriosis. We compared the change in EHP-30 scores for the following scenarios: (1) type of surgery (conservative surgery vs.
Objective: To compare perioperative and postoperative complications in patients who underwent opportunistic salpingectomy (OS) (removal of the fallopian tubes for ovarian cancer risk reduction during another surgery) at the time of cesarean section (C-section) with those in patients who underwent tubal ligation.
Design: A population-based, retrospective cohort study.
Setting: British Columbia, Canada.

Objective: Endometriosis patients have a high rate of co-occurring anxiety and depression. There is currently no literature investigating how this may affect endometriosis treatment and outcomes. This study examines the prevalence of depression and anxiety in a pathologically confirmed population-based endometriosis cohort and examines how endometriosis treatments and outcomes differ by the presence of co-occurring depression and/or anxiety.

Herein, we describe the rates of OS at the time of hysterectomy and tubal sterilization between 2017 and 2020.
Methods: This study uses the Canadian Institute of Health Information's Discharge Abstract Database and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System for all Canadian provinces and territories except for Quebec between the fiscal years 2017 and 2020.
Background: Depression and anxiety are highly prevalent within the perinatal period and have been associated with myriad adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes. In this study, we sought to investigate whether population-based data can be used to build complex, longitudinal mental health histories that improve our ability to predict adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes.
Methods: Using population-based, administrative datasets, we examined individual-level mental health services use of all birth parents who delivered a live infant in British Columbia, Canada between April 1, 2000, and December 31, 2013, and who were registered with the provincial Medical Services Plan for over 100 days per year from 10-years preconception to 1-year postpartum.
Generally, risk stratification models for cancer use effect estimates from risk/protective factor analyses that have not assessed potential interactions between these exposures. We have developed a 4-criterion framework for assessing interactions that includes statistical, qualitative, biological, and practical approaches. We present the application of this framework in an ovarian cancer setting because this is an important step in developing more accurate risk stratification models.

Synthetic oxytocin administration is a common obstetrical practice, and importantly, previous research has suggested that intrapartum exposure may increase the risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between synthetic oxytocin exposure during labor and autism spectrum disorder diagnosis in the child.
Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis (SRMA) aimed to synthesize the current literature on the impacts of adolescent and young adult (AYA, ages 15-39 years) cancer on reproductive health outcomes.
Methods: EMBASE and Medline were searched from 1 January 2000 to 26 January 2022 for observational studies that included individuals with AYA cancer and controls which evaluated reproductive health outcomes. We used random effects models and 95% confidence intervals to obtain pooled measures of associations between AYA cancer, cancer treatment, and reproductive health outcomes.
Background: Prenatal antibiotic exposure induces changes in the maternal microbiome, which could influence the development of the infant's microbiome-gut-brain axis.
Objectives: We assessed whether prenatal antibiotic exposure is associated with an increased risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in offspring born at term.
Methods: This population-based retrospective cohort study included everyone who delivered a live singleton-term infant in British Columbia, Canada between April 2000 and December 2014.
Objective: The presence of macroscopic residual disease after primary cytoreductive surgery (PCS) is an important factor influencing survival for patients with high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC). More research is needed to identify factors associated with having macroscopic residual disease. We analyzed 12 lifestyle and personal exposures known to be related to ovarian cancer risk or inflammation to identify those associated with having residual disease after surgery.

Current literature exploring the connection between antenatal mental health and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is limited, presenting conflicting evidence. We sought to evaluate the association between antenatal depression/anxiety (DEP-ANX) and GDM using population-based, administrative data, accounting for aspects of preconception mental health.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the rate and types of reoperations (primary outcome) and use of other pain-related health services (secondary outcomes) among people who underwent a hysterectomy with conservation of both ovaries, those who underwent a hysterectomy with unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and those who underwent a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.
Study Design: This was a population-based, retrospective cohort study of 4489 patients aged 19 to 50 years in British Columbia, Canada, who underwent a hysterectomy for endometriosis between 2001 and 2016.
Objectives: Antibiotics are commonly administered during labor and delivery, and research has suggested that fetal exposure to antibiotics can increase risk for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We assessed whether antibiotic exposure during labor and delivery increased the risk of ASD in the offspring.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included everyone who delivered a live singleton-term infant in British Columbia, Canada, between April 1, 2000, and December 31, 2014.
