Considering the important role of the cervical joint position sense on control of human posture and locomotion, accurate and reliable evaluation of neck proprioceptive abilities appears of great importance. Although the cervicocephalic relocation test (CRT) to the neutral head position (NHP) usually is used for both research and clinical purposes, its test-retest reliability has not been clearly established yet. The purpose of the present experiment was to 1) evaluate the test-retest reliability of the CRT to NHP and 2) to determine the number of trial recordings required to ensure reliable measurements.

In this paper, we examine at-home activity rhythms and present a dozen of behavioral patterns obtained from an activity monitoring pilot study of 22 residents in an assisted living setting with four case studies. Established behavioral patterns have been captured using custom software based on a statistical predictive algorithm that models circadian activity rhythms (CARs) and their deviations. The CAR was statistically estimated based on the average amount of time a resident spent in each room within their assisted living apartment, and also on the activity level given by the average number of motion events per room.

In this paper, we present a software tool for in-home resident activity simulation, incorporating now an environmental sound module, and developed for the purpose of home health care data fusion studies. Activities, represented by displacements scenarios and modeled using a Markov model, are correlated with ambient audio events. Physiological and environmental data are also integrated in the simulation process on demand by the users.

At the time of hospitalization, it is essential to evaluate the general health status of a patient and to follow up the trends during therapy. Our work is focused on a set of tools for the measurement of patient activity. In this paper, we propose a few indicators of the patient activities of daily living, such as mobility, agitation, repartitions of stays, and displacements.

A system for the automatic measurement of the circadian activity deviations in telemedicine has been developed within the framework of a "Health Integrated Smart Home Information System" (HIS2). HIS2 is an experimental platform for the evaluation and the development of technologies in order to ensure the security and quality of life for patients who need home based medical monitoring. Location sensors are placed in each room of the HIS2, allowing the monitoring of patient's successive activity phases within the patient's home environment.

We deal in this paper with the concept of health smart home (HSH) designed to follow dependent people at home in order to avoid the hospitalisation, limiting hospital sojourns to short acute care or fast specific diagnostic investigations. For elderly people the project of such a HSH has been called AISLE (Apartment with Intelligent Sensors for Longevity Effectiveness). For this purpose, system having three levels of automatic measuring (1) the circadian activity, (2) the vegetative state, and (3) some state variables specific of certain organs involved in precise diseases, has been developed within the framework of a 'Health Integrated Smart Home Information System' (HIS2).
